I used to have a RRE rear strut bar on a previous eclipse and I loved it. It was one of the most solid looking strut bars I've ever seen! It wasn't fancy looking but I didn't worry about any flexing from it. I'd like a bar like that for the front and rear of my 90. I know they make a rear bar, but their site doesn't show one for the front. :( I also wouldn't mind a front and rear bar like that which are triangulated. The front bar's third mounting point on the firewall and the rear bar's third point mounted to the floor or the top of the hump which already has a threaded hole! :thumb: Anyway. That's what I'd really like to have. I just wish I could fabricate worth a damn.

Most of the bar available are decoration, they bent at any pressure, people will say, Oh I feel a difference, the power of mind over reality. RRE rear bar is good. For front bar, I never found a good one for 1G, we/you need to go custom. If you want to go inexpensive mods, K&N air filter, MBC, boost GAUGE... don't spent hard earning money on stuff you will regret/change afterward. BTW if you don't push the car over his limit, they are kind of already stiff, stock.

But they're tension/compression members. They're not subjected to any significant bending load.

Although I fully agree on that point. Still, they're a handy place to lean on while working on the motor. :thumb:

It is not mind over reality...I just took my strut tower bar off this morning and then did my usual drive to pick my girlfriend up. I took this swooping corner exiting the highway at the same speed I always do and was like "WTF? Why am i unstable all of a sudden?" I started worrying then realized what had changed about the car. There was a VERY noticeable difference without the bar.

Greddy bar is a good unit. I like it because it wraps around the strut mount and I can pull on the outside lip of the sheetmetal body, instead of fully rellying on the clamp load that two strut studs provide to lock the bar end down.

Rear bars are totally poinless. It's a shock, not a strut, it's not laterally loaded. The force all goes through the floorpan.

I got the same megan racing set from ebstores for 58, all I can say is great quality and looks for the price. :thumb:

Hmm rear bar is useless huh? Can you explain how? I understand that the rear is only a getting force vertically(for the most part) but it still has force. I have a "strut tower bar" in the back, but I have fully seam welded the car and have 1/8 steel plates welded to the strut towers and a 1.5 .120 HREW bar welded in between(my strut tower bar) then tied into a six point roll bar. I plan on making a front strut tower bar and and bracing it to the firewall. Just haven't quite figured out how I will make it removable, the back is solid(not coming out without a grinder/torch). Just curious how the rear bar would be useless, although it might not in my case.

From my PM back to you about cage design:

The rear end of a 1G uses a shock, not a strut. The difference is a strut is a load bearing member of the suspension design. Basically if you remove the shock the suspension geometry remains unchanged. It's important to think about this when designing your cage, think about what parts of the unibody will be stressed the most and in what way.

The shock towers do not see a lateral load, only vertical. Putting a bar between them serves no real purpose, at least not like a strut bar in the front of the car.

The strut bar is not going to reduce any potential vertical movement of the shock mount.

I 've got an RRE front bar but not the one that's on the site's picture. Mine has the third mounting point on the firewall which is supposed to provide an additional edge in stiffness. Not sure if they still have them. It was $120.00 though. May be it was my imagination but after install the car felt more like one piece.

I Also just received my Megan Racing front and rear bars just recently, those of you who also bought from ebay...did you receive different colored bars? I have one polished and one Blue, when my car is red...thought they were both gonna be polished!
