Installed my Ground-Control/KYB AGX setup today, I get a rattle out of the rear's when i hit a bump, I didnt put the stupid O-Rings on the shocks under the collor, so now it rattles when i hit a bump, I got the coilovers used, so they didnt come with the Orings, which is why i didnt know to put them on till i read a writeup on the install online.....So, my question is Where do you think i could get them, do you think they are special orings, or just your general run of the mill buy at any hardware store orings.

Sean

Car runs, Rides, Looks, and handles great. Love the setup.

They are not something sitting on a shelf at Home Depot. They are made to catch the smal lip inside the sleeve while fitting snugly around the shock. This is why you need the right rings for your type of shock (e.g., Konis are different from KYBs). I'd say that you need to call GC and order new ones. They are probably quite inexpensive. When they'll arrive is another story.

i doubt that. just go to a auto zone or some shit, make sure you get the right size that it was stop your noise, and install. oring is a oring. nothing but a rubber circle.

It's not an o-ring but a machined metal ring which adapts a GC collar to a shock.

Get them from GC...

Also... Guess what...

Knock the stock perch off the shock.... Just smack it with a small hammer towards the shock top... It's mostly just held on by paint....

Then the GC collars with the bushing will just drop right down on the shock just like GC' Koni's..

I've had a set of four AGX (lifetime warranty) on my car for about three years. The car is mostly stock and has never been raced. I also have Ground Control coil-overs.

On the rear, along with the AGX's, I have 250lb Eibach springs and less than 1" drop. Obviously, not a severe-duty application and only about 30% stiffer than stock, as I recall. I have about 35k miles on the shocks, all of it street driving.

As of this month, neither rear shock will adjust, and the right shock is leaking and losing control. My problem? Voided warranty. The reason? Coil-over spring perches.

So...the quality of these shocks, at least as far as adjustability goes, is poor -- 50% failure rate for me, at least. Add 25% failure rate on the shock body itself, and it's a bigger problem. But then add in KYB's inflexible warranty policy and I'll know I'll never buy another KYB product in my life. They warranty the 1" drop, just not the aftermarket spring perch.

That's pretty much what I've been saying about the KYB's all along. No one listens.

The point I'm trying to make is that if you leave the factory style perch on there you are more likely to break things.

What happens is that since the ring is so far down the threads you have about 75% of the threaded section sitting inside the spring.. Most of the tube sits above the end of the shock body. The spring contacts the threads during compression and tweeks the shock body even more than normal. Installed like I did the perch sits just like on konis with the top of the perch well below the top of the shock... I looked at how they sit on the shock the way most people do them and thought no f-n way.. Then I realized that the stock style perch is'nt even welded in place so I just knocked it off and let the "o-ring" bottom out on the lugs the factory perch sat against.

Are other there shocks better than KYB's yes.

However with the new shorter version of the KYB fronts, A raised upper shock mount with a limber bushing or pillow ball, a bumpstop long enough and the stock style sheet metal perch removed from the shock you will have no problems.

Actually, it's both an o-ring and a machined metal ring. The o-ring snugs the metal ring to the shock, and the metal ring snugs the threaded collar.

If you call GC they will send you o-rings. They sent me mine for free when I needed some, but your mileage may vary.

I did'nt need the rubber ones. The metal ring fit the shock body very snug..
