We are currently updating all driver profiles and would like to set up your accounts so that you can log in and edit your profile yourself. Please email jasonsiu@nscra.com with your e-mail address so that we can send out an email with your login credentials. Many of our driver profiles could use some updating with imagery of your car. We will be heavily marketing the website for the 2010 season, so the more you can add to your website, the better it will be for you and potential sponsors. Thanks in advanced from the staff at the NSCRA.

Well...with this car its been a grueling string of the typical bad luck DSM bug. First the re vamping of the whole car because it was a hack from the gate, had to re weld the motor mount ear to the block, tear it all down and re do it. Then it blew the HG when we got it up on the road, then the lifters collapsed with the big cams...then we FINALLY had everything on it and running great and the day of the LAST TRACK day at the local drag strip, blew the HG after the EVO 3 intake mani install and final tune. Needless to say it would have been an 11 sec car one way or the other...we were just shooting for the record without using nitrous...didnt happen. But for your viewing pleasure i have listed all mods and some pics. We will be hitting the dyno this weekend to at least get some reassurance that the "project bucket" which has seemingly been festering with demons since we had our hands on it will give us some results that were seeking.

List of mods include:

-redone stock 6 bolt block
-freshened up 7 bolt head with stock evo beehives and HKS 264's
-EVO 3 inatke manifold
-SBR Street FMIC
-HAFE case SS ehaust manifold
-14b with ported evo 3 turbine and o2 housing
-PTE 780cc injectors
-Keydiver stage 3 chip
-SAFC
-Walbro 255hp

Thats the majority of it, and the car is LIGHT!! Alot of time was spent replacing things with lighter things, and/or removing things all together. Fuel were using is turbo blue 115 which we actually have at the pump here. (YAY FOR PA!)

Im not sure on what the numbers will be, the car is fast though. Second gear all 4 wheels cut loose and it soars through the gears. Power to weight ratio is the biggest thing this has going for it. 27psi it holds with the WG actuator shimmed to hell and back haha (dont worry, we have a surplus of good 14bs for its inevitable replacement.) I will post dyno results this weekend when we get them. Heres some pics of this hideous track slut. :thumb:

Ok, so yesterday was a good day. I took first place for Fastest Car at the NC/SC Shootout. And I also got a new personal best and a little Record under the belt. The car has a lot more left in it. My 60 ft wasn't that great and I actually hit boost cut right around the 1/8th mile.

I honestly think the car will go 8.4's or 8.3's as it sits. Just tweaking the tune and suspension.

This is gonna seem cheesy, but I have to do a thank you list for all the people that have stuck with me through all the troubles and kept pushing me to do better.

Doug @ Topspeed - he's the first person to get my car running back in '05 when I built my motor and had just installed AEM in my driveway in (ghetto)Riverdale. This man drove to my house from (not Ghetto)Alpharetta, not knowing who I was, and got my shit running. It's been a great partnership ever since. BIG Thanks for all you've done for me and for making the trek out to NC with me yesterday (on your daughter's bday no less) and sprinkling the Topspeed fairy dust on the tune to make it happen.

Colleen - for putting up with me and staying with me. And being a very supportive girlfriend. You are too good to me and I couldn't do it without you.

Kevin Kiggly - For all the advise and random phone calls you would take from me when I couldn't figure something out. You've been a great help!

Dustin S (Creekside Boys): Dude, you've been one of the biggest supporters for me and a truly great friend. Thank you so much for helping me with ideas, building shit, borrowing shit (your tires just went 8's homie lol), fixing shit, etc...Your car WILL be a priority this next season and you WILL be beside me at the track next season!!!

Ron Shearer - you're my boy and you've helped me out several times and you are also a great supporter and a good friend. it means a lot when you come all the way down from Ohio, just to watch me break, and then still associate yourself with me the next day! Thanx brother!

Turbo Dave - for keeping me safe with the new cage. We will be doing a lot more business together. GOt some good ideas for the winter.

Everyone at GADSM & NABR who's watched me go from a broken car for many years to where I'm at today and always stood behind me.

**Edit** Chris Durr - I totally forgot, even after we talked about it on the way home last night. Thanks for always coming out and helping with everything. You've been a great friend and supporter and always there to help a brother out.

If I left anyone out, please don't take it personal. I will come back and edit it. I'm a bit loopy from lack of sleep over this past weekend.

So, here's the video and some pics....enjoy

I will post up all the pics from the whole event once Colleen uplaods them to kodak gallery

The Omega Drags was The last racing event of 2009 in Okinawa and unsurprisingly, I was a spectator for this event. And to be honest, as long as I have the Alto Works that's all I will be. People keep asking me why I don't pick up another early Evo; a model of car I know quite a bit about and love. But the sad truth of the matter is I doubt I'd have the funds to keep it filled with petrol & oil, nevermind the modifications needed to make it competitive. The time when I have money will come again at some point (fingers crossed), but until then it will probably be watching from the pitlane only.

I got up to Nago Circuit at around 0945, and when I arrived I questioned if I'd got the date wrong for the event. There were no flags up at the entrance and only 3 cars in the parking area. My fears were soon put to bed though when I opened the car door and heard loud engine noise from beyond the circuit wall.

The lack of people watching was matched by a lack of cars taking part. There were only around 20 cars competing which is half of what is usually there. Nobody really knew the reason for it either, and November is usually the best time for the events. Yesterday was no exception, with conditions being ideal. The weather was mild with a bit of a breeze in the air keeping things cool, but the sun made regular appearances to stop people getting too cold. Only two non-Japanese drivers were taking part; a third dropped out 2 days before due to engine block problems which might require a complete engine disassembly.

The lack of entries made the day go by much more quickly than usual, and proceedings ended an hour earlier than usual. The first couple of practice runs were filled with drivers trying to get traction on the launch, and then when braking after the finish line (in the fight between mountainside and car, there is only going to be one winner). There were a couple of pretty hairy moments with some cars locking up the wheels and rear-ends looking a little twitchy, but thankfully no collisions.

Rick, currently holder of the "fastest gaijin in Okinawa" mantle, was looking impressive in his GT-R. His qualifying runs included breaking out of B-class with a time of 5.429s at 164kph for the 150m. To put that in context for the non-racers, that's a 0-100mph time of under 5.4s. In laymans terms that's (insert expletive of your choice) fast! The other driver, Josh, was having a tough time bringing everything together in his Mark II JZX90. Traction issues, red-lighting at the start and other little problems made for a very frustrating day. It was a shame for him, as he had high hopes and was taking part in C-class for the first time. Sad to say, but I think yesterday the Alto might have had a chance against him!

Rick managed to attain the quickest qualifying time in B-class, hitting 5.6s for the 150m, which put him straight into the final. The other cars in that class would be racing for the right to race him. Rick's problem was that he knew if everything went perfectly for him, he had a good chance of breaking out of B-class again which would result in his disqualification from the knockout part of the tournament. The solution was just delaying his launch on the startline a tenth of a second longer or so, to ensure he would remain in his class. And when it came to the final that's what he did. Both drivers had a good launch but Rick's GT-R was pretty much flawless and he finished again in 5.6s, 0.3s quicker than his rival.

The final of A-class was won once again by a car tuned by Goyu, which ran the 150m in 5.1s, crossing the line at 179kph. That is a speed and time about 95% of the drivers here in Okinawa can only dream of, and by Rick's admission is probably out of his league. But something to take into account is the type of cars. The Goyu car that won in A-class is completely gutted, geared for drag racing in Okinawa and even has parts to cut out of the bodywork to save on weight. In contrast, the Gt-R is full-weight with all the sound deadening, stereo air conditioning etc in it. If all of those things were stripped out then he would probably have a chance in the top class here in Okinawa.

So a year of drag racing in Okinawa has ended and the first event of 2010 will be in March. So until then, keep warm in the winter months and take good care of your cars.

Note: Apologies for the lack of quality in the photos this time. I was trying to add a bit of motion blur by taking down the shutter speed on my camera, but I took it down way too much, meaning most of my shots were good for nothing except throwing away. Will try harder next time.

This was on 33psi and on the GM and not SD at the time. The highest trap of the day was 129mph and the car has seen mid 130's with having issues.. So something wasn't quite right. As some of you may know the holset took a crap a few weeks ago at AMS on the dyno. Before it went the car was on SD and at 39psi. It felt great but never made it back to the track with that boost level.

Here's the video of the dyno run.

Hey all! I figured I'd open this one up.....seemed to have some interest on the "first in the 10's" thread so I think this could be a great thread. This is open to anything related to the history of DSM Drag Racing. Pictures, stories, articles, statistics, etc. I'm fascinated by it. It started so small, and continually got bigger, then grew in to a monster that pushed us out of drag racing classes or burdened us with restrictions in order to keep DSM's from constantly destroying the competition.

As stated elsewhere. I first was turned on to DSM's at Maryland International Raceway, Budds Creek, Maryland, July 4th, 1996. It was the Import Shootout hosted by EIP Tuning, the VW Tuner shop. Being a VW guy, is most likely the reason I am today a DSM guy, and have been for more than 13 years. Without being a VW guy first, I'm not sure I would have known about the shootout, or paid any attention to the add if it was not VW related. So, the fact that I was a into the dubs, is the reason I was able to see the DSM's run at this event. And, they DID run. I was there to see, what else, I've said it 100 times now, VW's! I was a salesman for Acura at the time, and was gaining interest in the Integra GSR. As a matter of fact, I planned to purchase or lease one that summer. THANKFULLY, I went to this event.....

......there were a few "quick" Honda's there.....I remember about 13.6-14.3 ET's out of those cars. As far as the VW's, I remember a 1.9 L carburated NA Rabbit that pulled a 13.3 or so.

AND then.......ALL the DSM's ran at once.....and on average they were SO MUCH quicker and faster than all the other cars. I was like, "what the hell makes those things so fast?" Several 12, and 11 second cars! After watching those cars run down the track that day, I decided: Screw the VW's, I've done 10 years with them and it's time for a change. The thought of a new Integra was gone from my mind INSTANTLY. I was literally blown away by the performance of the Talons and Eclipses.

I remembered a friend of mine had a black '93 Talon ES while still in Maryland at the event. I couldn't wait to get back to CT so I could see what it felt like to sit in one. At the local cruise strip the following weekend, I got the chance to sit in it and I was SOLD. I loved the dash, the center console, the seats, the whole overall feel was just awesome........and I knew I wanted the TURBO AWD version. I liked the '90-'91 body style TALON the best and wanted it in WHITE. At the time....the only color I really wasn't that into was RED. I was looking in classifeds and in October of 1996, I found one that listed as one owner, 38k miles, and was about 25 miles from where I lived. I called the guy and set up a meeting. I headed out there with my friend Craig. On the way out, he was asking me what I knew about the car so far and asked what color. He knew I wanted white, he was also a WHITE ON WHITE fan. I had forgotten to ask what color it was:hmm: We pulled up, and wouldn't you know, it was red!:ohdamn:

He was asking $8000. It had a crack in the windshield, the red paint was faded, and the rear wing and mirrors were faded some. It wasn't mint, but it was all there and had low mileage. Without delving too deep here. I ended up paying $7250 for the car, it booked in the $9000 range. Included in the sale were a '90 brochure, a '92 brochure, the factory repair manuals, and an engine pre-luber that was brand new in the box with a receipt for $389.00. I still have it and it is new in the box! So, I drove it the first time and I was hooked....the only thing that was weird feeling was that active rear toe adjust when in the corners. It didn't feel quite as unsettled as the 4WS Honda Prelude, but, it sure felt weird to me after owning several very tight VW's.

So, within that month, the car was at the Drag Strip for the first time. It actually was within a week and a half I think. It was a super packed Saturday test n tune. I got 3 passes all day long. I tried a few practice launches on the street in the week leading up to the test n tune. I sucked at it in the beginning.

All 3 60' times were 2.0's

First pass ever was 14.89@89.99

Followed by 14.85@90.85 - BEST RUN STOCK

and last a 14.99@89.91 - my slowest ET ever to this day!

The car was a strong runner right from the get-go...had I been better at the launching, I might have matched CAR & DRIVER's 1/4 mile ET of 14.6 which is the quickest number in print for the Talon TSi AWD.

When I say bone stock, I mean BONE, air silencer still there, boost solenoid restrictor in.....literally bone stock, full weight. I'll add some more on this later...

And so the journey began. That's a bit of my history to open this up, some background on why I'm here and why I'm interested in DSM history:thumb:

Let's talk it up!:aha:

Well 2 nights ago was my first time ever racing on the strip and I'm pretty happy. I only got two passes and my first pass was a 14... Ewwwww. I got stage fright and launched late and then shifted from third to second instead of 4th :/ I'm lucky my tranny didn't decide to smack me...literally. So after that pass I got my bearings and went to the line again. I was lined up next to a brand new Vette and my helmet kept rubbing on the roof so I couldn't turn my head... I was nervous again but ready. I had my launch control going at about 5600 without Antilag since I didn't get a chance to turn it on before the track. When the green light went on I slipped the clutch and pulled a 12.7... still messed up 4th gear but atleast didn't downshift. I'm so excited I beat a vette and ran a 12.7 my first time at the strip. Here's the timeslip :D Let me know what times I can do better on and how. :thumb:

I know this is similar to the road race guys but even so looking at their thread got me thinking about my drag/street car. My 8 second Raven build as seen here: The RAVEN!: AWD/Auto/S400/Nitrous/Alum. rod/100% street car build *8/9s or bust!*

Has been sitting for eons due to priority listing. Every time I try to put another car on hold to finish the Talon, new plans come up and I am back at it with another car.

Currently my RX8 is being rebuilt from the ground up for next year so there goes a majority of the money, and what that doesn't take has been trickling into the house as well as my oldschool 1965 trunk I am restoring to trailer my 1972 Camaro which also need a new rear end after its 496 stroker totally obliterated it on my last carshow/track outing. Hell the new wheels alone for the RX8 would be able to finish off at least 80% of what I have left to complete on the Talon. ;( I don't know where I lost my motivation but I need it back.

What I need left:

New manifold. I could easily pick up a readily available top mount or even a bottom mount but the setup I want to run will require a reversed mounting for the turbo and retain a lot of stock components all the while positioning the turbo so it can mate up to my 4" aluminum exhaust. I have looked towards companies like ETS and JMF and they have all said they can do it. MAPerformance was no help at all in this venture.

Fuel pump. Sold it to a friend who needed it sooner than I did only for him to pretty much give it away with his shell he sold, I was beyond pissed but its what ever. I'll most likely go for a single eliminator pump and call it a day. I still have all my lines and injectors plus I just scooped up the fittings and new fuel rail from Brent..

ECU. I also sold my AEM EMS to a buddy who needed it sooner than I did (currently powering a 650+whp beast) so that leaves me in the dog house BUT I have always wanted to run DSMap and the only thing stopping me was the inability to control boost at the level I'd need it to be done. Well after talking to the guys over on the Tuner Pro boards, the new 4 bar map sensor just might work. So do I go AEM EMS, or do I push the envelope again and try something new? At the end of the day I'll leave that up to my tuners who will have the final say. If they trust in the Jackal 3d maping then Im game, but I wont do it at a sacrifice of drivability considering this will be a 100% street driven vehicle.

Hmmm, and I think that's it... So I take that back.. The wheels on the RX8 would pay for 100% of what I need left to finish but I need to push myself. I think I need to call up one of my buddie with a fast 10s+ or 600+ whp DSM/EVO and tell them to give me a ride or let me borrow their cars. That will probably get the ball moving.

Guess I'm kind of disappointed in myself to say the least but once you get use to your DSM sitting, it makes it easier and easier to let it just sit. When I DD my last 35r big boy I made sure it had the latest and greatest, coolest and newest and I was tinkering with it damn near daily. I miss that car with a passion..

This was already a couple weeks ago, but things have been busy lately and it took me a while to get the video pieced together. We made it out for the last time of the season 10-18-09 and, unfortunately, left with a big window in the block.

Pass 1:
Off the trailer at ~44psi it rattled the tires, I pedaled it and I thought it was a bad pass so I lifted about 100-150ft early - 8.39 at 158mph on a 1.29x 60'

Pass 2:
Try to add more boost but it doesn't make any more. I need a stiffer wastegate spring. 8.37 at 165mph on a 1.290 60' - new best ET.

Pass 3:
Minor tune change that didn't make any more power. Best ET of the year:
1.294 60'
3.561 330'
5.408 at 133.96 1/8mi
6.997 at 153.06 1000'
8.358 at 164.90 1/4mi

Pass 4:
Try to make an intake cam timing change. Find out the Haltech software won't target negative value in the table. Shook the tires at the top of 1st and shifted while pedaling it so it bogged a little. 8.48 at 164mph on a 1.31 60'

Pass 5:
Lined up with Scott's RWD car. Made a cam timing change. A rod let go at 8600rpm in third gear (~150mph). The catch pan caught everything, so that was good, but our day and season are over.

We're done for the year. I expect it will make more power at more boost, but I need to change the wastegate spring to run more. I thought I had at least 5psi more I could go before it would blow the wastegate open with the 12psi spring but I guess I was wrong on that. It is just now hitting 1:1 backpressure at 43-44psi.

Video from the day:
http://www.kigglyracing.com/media/Milan_10-18-09.wmv
