So a friend of mine has been having problems with blowing his 20A Engine fuse because of a short. Come to find out his stock BCS was stuck into his old SMIC hole in the fender and rubbed so much that it grounded out. However during our troubleshooting we were looking over all of the components within the Engine fuse circuit and noticed that the front O2 sensor had a bare steel braided wire that didn't belong. Does anyone know what this might be used for? Is it braided shielding? We are jus making sure all possible grounding points are fixed. Thanks

He did have a 99 GSX engine swapped into his 98 GSX because of crank walking, but the engine harness wasn't replaced. Not sure if that means anything.

Thanks in advance,

Sean

Is this the harness side of the wires or the o2 sensor side wires? Just clarify what colors they are aswell

Non-hacked harness and the bare wire goes all the way up to the main harness bundle

It's just inductive shielding. It actually goes all the way to the ECU.

Awesome figured but a bit paranoid since he's had a short for the past two days

Yeah, a few sensors have that going on. Knock sensor, both 02 sensors, generally anything that produces a voltage on its own. Good luck

BCS was the problem, car runs great, thank you everyone for the confidence boost.
