Hello everyone, this will be an in depth build of a 92 eagle talon tsi. The car was owned by my best friend who passed away from cancer. It has been sitting uncovered, and the engine was removed about 4 years ago. Moisture has found its way into the car so there is mold on the leather and I'm sure connectors are corroded throughout the car.

A little about the car that I know of from years ago and talking with my friends father. The engine seized after an oil change led to the oil cooler housing loosing and after a long drive to vacation the engine was toast. only useable parts of the short block was the block itself. After further inspection the car is a 6bolt/4bolt setup has arp head studs aftermarket cams ( unknown of type or spec), 16g turbo, upgraded maf.

My plans for the car are to go over the entire car a restore and rebuild with more performance in mind. I'd like to get the car running first and use the spare block for a 400hp build thru a 5speed. Eventually if HP gets upgraded I will upgrade to an auto as that is what my friend would have wanted to do with it. I'm sure the car will see more then the street as I like to drag race but would like to get into rally, and road racing. I look forward to getting the car to my house and go over it.

I'm sorry to here about your friend, its great that you are doing this build for him! I look forward to seeing this one come together!

I hope you see it through. Im sorry to hear about your friends passing. I dunno what I would do if I had a friend pass. Its good you have choose a positive outlet. Good luck on your build.

Thank you for your positive words. He is in my thoughts and often wonder what we would be doing if he was around still. I cant wait to get into it! I should have the car in my driveway this weekend ( hopefully)

big update! finally got the car out of its hole in the ground (literally the car was sunk up to the diff from sitting so long) took 6 hours of trying to brake the rust loose on the calipers, got all but one loose so we dragged it up on the trailer and brought it to my house (less than a mile away).

we got the car back to my house around 8pm with a few phone calls there was soon 6 able body friends of mine and the previous owner all as excited as i was that the car was being reborn. at this point i find it relevant to say that i had been keeping this car a secret from another close friend who knew the previous owner. needless to say his face was priceless.

day 1 of officially working on the car started with a power wash and begging of the tear down, we were able to get the seats and center console out. as well and the rear trunk panels. my plan is to disinfect and clean everything i can. the car is being stripped to a bare shell and all wiring harnesses will be checked for continuity and then prepped for paint. but that is only the plan for now. here is how it sits now

This is awesome, its touching and gives me chills that you have that much reapect for your friend to bring his car back to life. Idk what I would think if someone would do something like this for me. People don't have any respect for others these days. Hope all goes well for you man, and I'm sorry for the loss... GOOD LUCK!

Thanks a lot Jake, big day today, first full day we can work on it hoping to get a lot done on it

a little update with a little headache. today i got the driver half of the engine harness out along with the under dash harness, didnt take any pics from the other day when we worked on the car but got the dash out finally and removed the tail lights as well as all the wiring going to the back of the car. also pulled the side plastic mouldings off the car and discovered a huge patch of rust on the passenger side rear 1/4 in front of the wheel well. seems typical from what ive seen trolling the boards. we are going to contact some body experts around the area to see what can be done. also we decided today that we will be going with manual steering, removing all the seatbelts in favor of racing harnesses. i want to keep the HVAC system but we will probably need to get a new box. also we are going to be striping the wiring harness to lighten it up and remove the wiring for parts we have removed. here are the pics.

rats nest of harness that was removed.

Thank you Crowder! didnt feel like getting my phone dirty but got the HVAC box out of the car and removed the passenger side wiring harness from the car. i also started stripping the electrical tape off the one harness to get rid of some of the wires we wont be using anymore

Saw your post, we're in like the same boat. My talon's previous owner also died of cancer, and this was his daily driver. I'll subscribe so we can keep our NJ cars updated with each other :)

thanks guys. got all the sound deadner off the from the trunk to the firewall. didnt get a chance to take pics but i will tomorrow.

yeah i have to learn body work quick because im getting to the point where i have to start putting it back together

That's really cool of you to rebuild his car. So sorry about his passing, too. That would be so rough. Keep up the good work!

bigbird94 they are going back in the car! also here are some pics after removing the sound deadner. easiest way ive found in my times doing this is a torch and large scraper.
