Ok so ive been wanting to do this forever but nerver had a way to upload photos before, so here we go i own a 98 talon tsi fwd auto shes pretty has almost no rust had 109,xxx on her when i bought her. This is my second car i went to school for auto mechanics and machining i am between jobs at the moment this will be a slow build but wadda ya gonna do LOL. Now to bring it all up to speed i bought the car january 2012 when i was a senior in highschool, it turned a few heads and i spent alot of time being annoyed by alot of honda drivers but after 2 months of on and off speeding (only to about 85) i started the car when leaving a cousins house and heard a heart shattering knock knock knock further inspection lead me to find out a wristpin snapped and really messed up the bottom end. By now i had started to hate the car i still owed a good bit of money on but after saving up about a whole year later i had the means to buy a used bottom end along with some new parts for it such as timing components rings bearings gaskets seals and so forth but having no time with my second tech school and work i had the students at the tech school help me out with removing and rebuilding the engine. well after the deed was done and they were going to put the motor back in they ran into some problems a few being vaccum lines no one knew how they were set up in the car. well i came in the next day to re route them correctly to find my windshield washer fluid line connected to my intake! someone along the line made a huge and rather ignorant mistake! well about 2 hours later i had made some adjustments and plugged evrything in to where it should be or so i thought i couldent find my wastegate selenoid so i sat in the car looking all throughout it and found it sitting in my glove box then i fixed the vaccum lines again and it started right up! I felt so relived after all my hard work my car was back!.....Until abut 2000 miles down the road the car went into limp mode :ohdamn: i about said every possible curse word on the way home from work and went to diagnosing which is where i am now about to tear out my transmission for some part swapping i have it down to it being shift solenoids well around 500 dollars later a box came in the mail with goodies! from IPT Transmissions i got shift solenoids a translab shift kit and a set of endclutches waiting for a break in the weather to go from here. :thumb:

Looks like a good start to your build. Whats next on the mods list?

Hopefully come tax time a boost gauge wideband manual boost controller a boost leak tester and an srs cat back exhaust id like to hear my motor a little more. :thumb:

the first mod i ever did on my eclipse was a fmic. had stock exhaust so the car was pretty quite. but when i swapped out the ic pipes for some stainless and a bigger intercooler it sounded really good. really quite at idle but when you got on it you could hear the turbo resinate through the metal pipes.

just an idea if your going for sound. looks good too

I was almost going to buy the VSFR full fmic kit that was on group buy here but thats around the time it broke LOL

Ok so ive compiled a small list of my expected upgrades and approximate cost assuming i ruin nothing LOL
-auto meter boost gauge-70$
-hks bov ssqv with recirc kit 300$
-hallman manual boost controller-105$
-thermal R and D exhaust with 3in weld on flange-600$
-megan downpipe-190$
-190 walbro fuel pumpwith rewire kit-120$
-hopefully buy and rebuild an evo 16g around 600$*-
-full front mount intercooler kit (vrsf)-350$
-fuel injector clinic 550c injectors-280$

Overall estimate of performance parts 2615$

So of course this may take a while these are in no particular order, hopefully some good sales come up.:D

If 300hp is your goal id go
- 255lph walboro fuel pump with STM Rewire kit
- Megan racing test pipe (to delete your cat)
- 950cc FIC injectors ( with a tune on 91 pump it's not that easy to achieve 300hp dyno numbers)
- ecmlink v3
- Forced performance exhaust manifold
- might wanna look into a 1g throttle body
-innovate lc-1 air fuel ratio gauge
-and if u have the engine already out of the car might as well remove your balance shafts for quicker revs
Going with more capacity parts is better than almost maxing out the ones your gunna buy ( fuel pump and injectors)
But good stuff tho good luck

thank you but from what i read all i need is a 190 fuel pump i could be wrong i have no idea what im going to tune with yet but my ecu is flashable and my tcu is an eprom so thats a good thing i guess LOL and my balance shafts were already deleted i used SIMs kit boy does the front end shake :thumb:

If your looking for an easy set up to start with, do what im doing. Evo9 fuel pump, evo 560cc injectors, safc2, aem wideband, and evo scan to log.

But the more advanced way to go would be a 255, afpr, link, big injectors ect..

what is safc? and is that the stock evo injectors? amd i have ecu flash idk how to use it tho

Its not too advanced. Its been the foundation for dsm tuning for a long time. I have a Aeromotive afpr on a car without a tune on a stock ecu right now. You just have to set your mechanical fuel pressue with the vacuum line off the afpr to 43.5 psi and thats it. You can run that and a 255 on a stock car without issue. I used to run a 255 without an afpr for 4 years and just used dsmlink to dial back my airflow at idle so I didnt run rich. My fuel pump never over ran the stock afpr. a 190 would be fine for your goal but we always want more power right :aha:

950's are overkill for injectors, for the stated goal (300hp).
OP buy: 650 inj, 255, afpr, wideband
Mostly do the absolute basics like boost leak testing...eliminating exh leaks...etc. AND reading man. Read a lot of threads on here of similar questions and setups. Will save you a lot of time.

I been reading like crazy way before i posted this LOL thats why i elimenated the balence shafts and used alot of really expensive parts for extra assurance :thumb:

Reading comment was really in reply to this but not meant in disrespect. Hell, I have ecmlink and fully believe the forum on link is worth the asking price because of the information I've read up on there.

And for the turbo....you dead set on a Evo3 16g? $600 is a lot to drop into it.
Other option: Used MHI small 16g (cheap, fast spool, still a 16g :sneaky:)

I so much so want a small 16 but i cant find them near me at all :idontknow:

Alittle update as some may know im tearing out my transmission because limp mode problems ect well i started getting into it and found this plug was pulled out of the bell housing i dont know what it is yet im going to look it up but im thinking this did it any way in the one picture is my motor mount i always wondered why the rubber looked like a piece of bologna I think someone made their own crappy motor mount LOL but i may tear into the car more tonight may have further updates till next time thank you. :)

Safc is a piggy back tuning device. Im not knocking link at all by the way. Its for sure they best way to go I was just suggesting the safc as a cheaper way to get started with tuning that is if you dont have the funds for link at the moment. And yes evo 560cc injectors are stock evo injectors and the evo8 and evo9 fuel pumps are stock evo fuel pumps, but they flow more then our stock fuel componets.

Ok i went through the 2g engine bay electrical connector thread and couldent find the sensor that pulled out of the bellhousing ill try and get a better look tomaro does anone off hand know what it is?

Ok did a little online scouring and found the ripped out thing i thought was a sensor was actually where shift solenoids plug into good thing i was replacing them anyway :D
