[Detroit Style]

Back story.

Picked this car up last winter drove it pretty much as I got it until, someone turned into me on i75 roughly two months ago.

At the time, the car had stuff done to it.

I picked this up as a daily, its a 96 TSi auto fwd. Mostly stock with just a few little things done.

Day one, its been sitting in that spot for 4-5 years.

We threw a battery in it, and it fired right up!

Upgrade time!

I took out the stock head unit and 1997 CD changer goodies and replaced them with a temporary double din.

Next up was to ditch all the stock speakers. Which all worked great and were as clear as could be for junk paper coned OEM things. MTX 6x9s went into the rear, Polk 6.5s went up front.

It got its first wash in 4/5 years.

Then I replaced the air filter from 1997!! Weapon R!!!!!!! That nifty adapter did not work so, its just sitting in the parts box waiting for a use.

Then came the tint, 15% on all the windows and 50% on the windshield.

I couldn't stand the lame sunroof that was in the car so, I took care of its transparency issues.

The clear spots have since been fixed.
I had to add the anti-hellflush/stance sticker.

Also, got rid of the ghetto thumper Alpine Type R and 5 channel Alphasonik amp for a space saving set up. The wiring has since been cleaned up.

A little TLC later.

Still not fully on the ground.

Then, I was given this for helping a friend move so, I switched from e85 that summer to this for a few tanks.

I think it needs a tune... The exhaust isnt black any more.

I need to run that all the time, just for the smell alone.

I also decided to stop being lazy and lower it a bit.

In between getting the hood and actually putting it on, the car got hit. A guy turned into me at speed on i75 on my way into work. Luckily, it was just wheel to wheel and tweeked the sub frame. No body damage but, the wheel is dead. Also, this caused me to pick up a new 2012 Focus which is a million times better to drive. All though, its infinitely times slower.

So, to roll the car around on, I got some junk ricer wheels which, will be replaced with something far better.


Thanks to Matt and Greg, I picked up a new hood for the car. The stock one was starting to rust where the seam sealer was chipped off of it.

This still needs to get painted to match the car.

Thought the car needed a head gasket, the gasket looks good. So, instead of figuring it out, its getting a new motor.

Got a new front end in the works. Im also thinking about selling the plates in both aluminum and carbon if anyone is interested.

I changed the design a bit for the drivers side plate.

More cutting of the bumper is to come along with, some more aero work to it.

I don't know why but, Ill have to change that.

I found the issue, Facebook changed servers or directories that they store pictures in. So, that messed up all the locations I used for the pictures and, some are just plain gone now because of it.

Did black just to make it one color for now. It needs some other work before it gets painted to match the car.

Not much has changed... Traded a set of Rotas for GST wheels then, traded an exhaust for the chrome GST wheels.

I got some eBay lights in order to use the Eclipse bumper cover.

Ended up trading those for another set of Talon lights to a guy who needed them more than I did.

Then, I moved... After sitting under a tree for 3 years, the car is now in a garage.

Grabbed a set of new Eclipse lights and, since this I have cut the bumper to fit the intercooler and fit the car once again.

Hmm.. I guess I should catch this thread up some what... The following is copied and pasted from another site.
The shitbox is slowly coming together. Just waiting on UPS to show up with a few little parts.

More money in hose and fittings than most have into a whole DSM.

Decided its time to freshen up the motor.

Got stopped at that stupid pulley.. I need to get a pulley puller when the weather clears up.

Went out and bought the pulley puller. Ended up breaking the key in two spots pulling it out. Oh well, its better off dead anyway.

You could say, it was time for a new balance shaft belt.

If it wasn't for this guy, belting out massive tunes, I wouldn't have been in the garage.

And, that's the end of vague updates that span from last spring until now.
