Vce?

Well… you CAN. But it is NOT a good idea…

That is why VCE makes so much more sense (unless you have a dedicated drag car)! You can swap it in and out as necessary in less than 30 min.

However, if you plan on drag racing with your VCE, it would help to have a center diff with minimal slop. And the best way to eliminate that slop, is to get a 4 spider gear conversion :).

Hey Guys!!! I've been racing and driving daily on my welded diff for 4 years with no issues at all. Yes, I broke my 3 bolt axles but so does everyone when they launch high and hard on them. I have two other friends in the area that have welded diffs with no issues either.

I followed his problems and lent some advice but I don't think his issues had anything to do with his welded diff.

A VCE does the exact same thing that welding does. It locks the diff together to create a "spool". It does have the advantage of being removable where welding is rather permanent though.

i have a friend thats been running a VCE for a couple years in his street dsm, hes had no issues

it works the same as suv's in 4wd mode, tires chatter in parking lots when your turning and going slow, i cant see how there are any ill effects, theres quite a few people that run these on their street cars, im planning on buying one

He is lucky… Just because people get away with some stuff does not mean that it is a good idea…

Bare in mind that every time you hear or feel that tire chatter/squeal, you put extra, unnecessary strain on your drivetrain. It is not a big deal for a while, but after some time, it takes its toll. I had one customer, blow his center diff with a VCE just driving around, commuting to work. Granted, that it pretty rare, but it goes to show you what can happen.
