Ok, well the time has come <winter> where I am thinking it is time to upgrade the tranny. I am hoping to be around 400 hp. And also plan on racing it. There are so many places to get work done. And as far as bang for the buck, Sheo seams to be the way to go for my AWD car. I am kinda hoping someone has had some experience with some places. INFORM ME :thumb:

Ya I should have not posted it here my bad. Sheps prices just seem too good to be true

www.shepracing.com i think ... look at his gauges on the vid, he does not even hit full PSI through 1st and 2nd, that is how quick he is hammering through the gears:cry: :D :)

Prices are very reasonable considering the quality and quantity of work put in them :thumb: I'm definitely considering one for my 93 AWD... Plus, look what Shep's putting out with his :D

ya his car is what i call "retarded fast" LOL:laugh: I called him and he like called me back but i was not here..next thing i know all my freinds are over listening to the answering machine "wow, is that really him?!" Seems like a hella cool guy. I kinda was thinkin of flying over there and checkin him out. If not for people like him...man, i mean I am motivated. But the guy is kinda a wake up call to "what could be" to all DSMers. What is even better is the level head it seems like he has, it is not all swelled up. So far I am sold, and i look forward to doing buisness with him.:thumb: Thanks to everyone!! for responding to my thread in the wrong spot. If ya get a chance, go to my homepage, see about the free DSM LOL

I'm creating his new webpage, should be up in less than a week. The one he is using now is just ancient. John is a real nice guy, really humble for his accomplishments in my opinion. If I was a AWD owner there would be no other choice when it comes to transmission work.. I mean he does use his own tranny, and runs 8's on it, what more could you want as proof to do business with him? Prices are amazing to.

I have a Shep built tranny. Extremely nice guy, quick to respond to emails, rebuilt/upgraded my tranny in a timely manor and his prices are very reasonable. If I have tranny work done to any of my other cars in the future, they will go to him.

I have been thinking about sending my spare to him to have it built after reading this thread i will definetly be doing bussiness with him. I do have one question about how much does it cost to ship and AWD tranny. Also, I have heard from a few people that when you first use his trannies that they are hard to shift, but after they are broken in they shift super smooth. Those who have one please let me know.

I gave him my tranny at the DSM Shootout and it was done 3 weeks later. He said it normally takes 2 weeks but after the shootout, he was blasted with tranny's.

The tranny was very tight when I got it back. Its slowly breaking in and getting easier to shift.

My only real wine is the shipping, but it is more of a wine. I am in WA state

He told me the turnaround was 2 weeks, but mine was done in 3 days after he got it.

BTW, why don't you just call him and ask him this stuff? He'll gladly answer all of your questions.

I do not care about turn around, ya i might call him. I am just sure he is a busy guy, I would not wanna be a bother him.

Naw I doubt you'll be bothering him. I emailed him asking a question once, and he answered in less than a day.

Good salesmanship to take a little time of each day to answer question of potential customers.

He said shipping is like $70-80 each way, so all and all you are looking at about a $1000 tranny rebuilt.

man what shipping company is that? all my quotes were about $135 range for here in Spokane:|

Shipping a Tranny 101.

Get a 24x24x24 box, put a 24x24x24 piece of plywood in the bottom. Then wrap yoru tranny in a big garbage bag (drain ALL fluid of course). Then set it on the plywood in the box. Then have expanding foam sprayed all aroudn it.
Take it to Fedex GROUND and pay $58-62 to ship it:)

P.S. I paid $5 for the box from a shipping place, and $10 to have it sprayed with foam. Packing peanuts WILL NOT work.

TRE has really good instructions for shipping a tranny. When I sent mine to Shepherd I got a double-wall box from U-Haul, and put lots of foam boards on the bottom and sides, then filled the rest in with newspaper. Fed Ex charged $60 to ship it.

TRE will send you a box pre-fit to ship your transmission in. For a charge, of course.

I never even knew Shep built trannys. Well now I know if I ever need to rebuild my FWD tranny Ill send it to him.
