I'm currenlty working on an adapter to mate a 4G63 engine to a number of transmissions. One of those would be a for the 3.0L trans used on 3KGT/Stealths. My understanding is that the larger brother DSM has a 6spd. :thumb:

I'm looking for someone who would be interested in using one of my adapters to mate a 6spd to the 4G63 in their car. Basically, being the test bed for the conversion. I'd provide the adapter. You'd have to provide the tranny/time to do the hybrid.

Other details to be worked out would be the shifter and driveline to the rear end. I think they have a different spline count on the output shaft of the T/Case. Axles may also be an issue.

I have not finished the adapter yet, due to my ability to aquire the bellhousing dimensions needed to complete it. So, far I have those for the 4G63. A member of the 3Si. org is selling me his broken bellhousing to get the 3.0L dims. I'd like to also get GM tranny dims and 2.6L Mits dimensions. I also have those for the legendary Chrysler torqueflite. Thus, you could adapt the 4G63 to a GM, Chrysler, Mits (3KGT) transmissions along with mating the 4G63 to the 2.6L tranny in the conquest.

CAD model of what I have so far. 4G63 to Chrylser A-series transmissions. :dsm: +:laser: =:thumb:

I've been wondering what is involved with making an adapter work on FWD/AWD. I through around the question of using a 6 speed Getrag from a Mini with the Chrysler/BMW 1.6 on Neons.org and got nothing positive. Only "why", and "Whats the point" and "it won't work."
If I had a DSM I would be very intrested in looking you up. Good luck, and keep us informed.

There is a LOT more to such conversion, other than an adapter plate… You also need to address:

-Clutch/FW issues
-Front axle location with respect to engine/tranny placement (in all 3 directions)
-Front axle compatibility (most likely a custom axles)
-Transfer case placement and fitment (most likely a custom driveshaft/yoke)
-front end/rear end gear ratios
-transmission mounts
-shifter mechanism

Just to name a few…

Do not get me wrong, I am all for people making tranny addapters for 4G63! I have spent years trying to find anyone interested in making such addapters. Then I just gave up and learned how to adapt them to other Mitsu trannys :). I just want to make sure that people realize what else might be involved in such swap.

But I am very interested in your project, keep us updated
