I have a 98 eclipse spyder GS-T with 30k. I was testing my new tires and I poped the clutch @ 4000 RPM, the weels hoped alote but did not spin. After that it is not as smooth as it was in the first gear, specialy when I turn the steering weel to the right and take off.

Any help will be appriciated.

Sounds like trouble. Wheelhop is very hard on the tranny, especially the diff. I'm betting that you broke something in the diff., but I hope it's something simple like a CV joint. To check the diff for proper operation try jacking the car up so one front wheel is off the ground and spin the wheel. Leave the tranny in neutral and see what happens. It should spin smooth and easy except for the brakes dragging a little. Then repeat the test with the other front wheel. If you feel any binding, popping noises, or if it just won't turn, you've got trouble.

To check the axles and CV joints grab the axle and try to twist, push, and pull on it to check for any freeplay. The axle shoudn't move, except if the wheel spins along with it.

good luck. HTH

I checked that, and the whole front suspension is solid. There is nothing wrong and the weels are turning easly without any noise.

The problem was a worn motor mount. The left mount is gone. It was causing some vibrations. But thanks for the help.
