Danville,
Are synchros hard to replace? Mine are going bad. I have a 1g non turbo. Any advice would be great. ALso are they expensive??

just get it re-built, if u continue to drive it, it'll hurt it more.. bmtranny did mine, very execellent werk and keith is a great guy

They are not hard to replace once the tranny is on your bench completely disassembled. However, getting to that point requires several hours of work--more if its your first time. Once it is apart, it is not that difficult. Understand too, depending on the age and how much abuse your tranny has seen, syncros may not fix the problem. You have have to replace gears. The dog-teeth fixed to each gear get rounded over when the syncros go or when some "grabs a gear, yo". It all depends. I rebuilt my tranny and it went okay. It is still running 13,000 miles later, but I know its not perfect and probably won't go 100,000 miles.

go to: bmtranny.com

But if you have a NA talon, you may not need to have bmtranny do the work. Your probably not pushing the HP to need one of their trannys
I just had mine done by them, and it was over a thousand dollars, plus you need to ship your tranny to them, unless you live in driving distance of New Jersey. Plus add in the cost of a new clutch and any extras along with that. your prabably looking about 1300$ and thats probably with mostly stock parts. So unless you pushing 300HP you may look into your local Chrysler dealer. each dealer should have a Mechanic that specializes in Talons, and they usually know there stuff, and you may save yourself quite a bit of money.
Now Im not trying to discourage you from going to B&M because I like them very much. They do great work, and are amoung the niceist people in the buisness, but I just think that may be an over kill for the type of car you have.

I checked price at Eagle Transmissions, and it was to run with parts and labor, $250.00 - $300.00. A FULL rebuild ran $800.00. Those prices are assuming the tranny is out of the car, and can be brought up there. They are all around Dallas/Ft Worth, Austin/Houston area, I do not know if you might have one close by where you are, or maybe you could ship it to them out in Texas. Hope this helps!
