front wheels locked

hi guys just need some help. i have a 97 talon tsi i will not shift out of third and the wheels are locked. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas what was wrong. it is a fwd. thanx for your help

Well. the samething happened to my car this past Friday night.....from what I was able to see, my front axle is shot. Not to mention the is what looks, and smells like transmission/diff fluid coming from my bell housing, so my trans might be shot too. But it's just a possibly. hope you didn't suffer the same fate it looks like I have.

the reason your wheels are locked is because you most likely toasted your spider gears in the differential... probably took out the carrier as well. as far as it not shifting out of gear, i dunno.

I fit wont shift out of gear more then likely the clutch went.most of the time when a clutch goes it gets stuck in a gear.well thats what happen to me.good luck
