I just wanted to put out a word for John over at "Import Performance Transmissions" in Hackensack New Jersey. John seems to be a really great guy and knows his stuff with import transmissions! Before I even left his shop he had the darn thing apart and figured out MOST of the problem! I feel pretty good about having them do the upgrades and work.
There never seems to really be any shops that specifically work on AT performance trannies. Yes, you can get rebuild kits and such, but do you really trust the tranny shop on the corner that works on grandma's car? I didn't think so. I know the tranny shops around here just look stupid when I start talking about upgrading my Talons tranny. You can just tell you don't want them touching it!
Anyhow, I finally got my transmission delivered to IPT tonight...spent 8 1/2 hours on the road to get there! But after talking to John online and on the phone a few times I feel confident that this tranny will be able to withstand the abuse I hope to put on it from time to time. It will be cryo-treated and such...the whole nine!
Once the tranny is back and we get it in the car I will post up the road AND track results. On my stock tranny with just a shift kit and end clutches I went 13.3 I am really hoping the IPT gets me in the 12's
