Princeton,
putting in a new clutch finally and went to the parts store and order a throwout bearing they said it was going to be a oem, is that okay or should I order a special one.

You want OEM and ONLY oem. They use a resin sleeve where it rides on the input shaft to the tranny so the shaft does not get scored. RRE only sells their clutchs with oem TOBs because so many people have problems with the aftermarket pieces that have metal sleeves.

Yea I went to Mitsu dealer just to get the TOB for my CFDF, since it's been proven that OEM is better than the rest. Still cant believe i paid almost $50 on that little piece of__ but i know i wont be sorry

Damnit I got a metal one, they said "it's oem" bullshit going to have to take a trip down to the crysler dealer.

Heh. That would be my ex-clutch.

A couple lessons learned there.

One, if you think you might have a crappy clutch setup, replace it before something blows up. The TOB got wedged into the pressure plate fingers and bound to the disc, which prevented the engine from cranking at all. I'm really surprised I didn't cause the crank to skip a tooth, or worse.

Two, metal sleeved throwout bearing are bad news.

Three, you probably don't have a race car, don't get an unsprung disc. Unless you really want to end up with a "lightened flywheel and pressure plate combo".

Four, buying a car that's already modified is stupid. I didn't put that clutch in there, but whoever owned the car before me was a dumbass. (That was the last of his "mods", BTW, the rest have been removed.)

I got my clutch from clutch masters and it's a stock OEM replacement. Now this isn't a Mitsu. clutch it's there stock clutch but the TO bearing was from NSK and it has a resin center not metal. The stupid place that but it on didn't machine the flywheel just right so it has some chatter but I can live with it till I get a Clutchmaster's Stage 2 clutch with kevlar disc. I won't take my car to them any more.
