after 6 weeks we've finnally got the ls1 and 6 speed into the talon, it wasnt at all easy and i think we used about 2bazillion dollars worth of chromoly. Dont attempt it unless you have access to all the free parts you need and all the free labor, or you are really rich(which im not). Okay, so the last problem, of many, is how to keep the independent rear suspension from the talon, the guy doing the work for me just wants to get a rear end and keep the leaf springs it comes with, but i really really dont want that, so I need to present him with a solution that isnt super complicated or expensive. any ideas? btw ill have pics up soon!

The DSM rear isnt all that great. Swap it for a starion rear set up or just go with a custom rear.

You can look into some of the other RWD import rear ends. Starion had virtually indestructible rear end with IRS. I used to have one sitting around for my 4G63 powored TR7 project, but it was too big and heavy for a small TR7, so I ended up selling it on E-bay and getting a Miata IRS.

Other commonly used IRS rear ends:

Jaguar
Vette
300ZX
Thunderbird

But I would keep it in the family with Starion unit ('88-'89 were the strongest!)

BTW I would also like to see some photos!

alrighty, well thanks for the very useful info, I was also thinking about the vette rear end, well this should make my mechanics job a lot easier.

you know what may be good, a new (93-99) 96-99 JDM rear ends. The rear end in that car looks to be close to the way ours are, and i never heard of the rear end in one of those going... Just a thought not positive if it will work. hope it helps

your talking about the suspension geometry not the actual rear end correct, seems like some people think you are talking about the 4 bolt rear and not the way the suspension is set up

yes, should have clarified that, just wanted the suspension geometry, not the rear end itself. Is that what you meant GRNDSM, were you talking about differential? or the IRS?

We need pics for all the non-believers....like me

how them pics coming

Damn LS1 in a DSM, thats almost as crazy as my LS1 in the Fiero Prodject. Except you dont have to worry about using a FWD tranny... Need pics man, need pics.

This thread is worthless without pics.
