i have a 93 tsi awd with an automatic and the trans is giving me trouble
sometimes when i take off it wont shift out of first till 40 and redlines for a few seconds when it does finally shift it jerks and sometimes makes a clunking sound then it shifts right out of second almost too fast

is this normal for an automatic tsi?

get under the car, and see if the drivshaft is loose, also check the tranny fluid or get it changed.... Good Luck

Something similar happened to me, and I will condense this as much as possible. I was driving around with my OD off and I was probably at about 65mph, and I clicked on the OD button, it switched over smoothly but then after about a mile the car jumped like it had hit something in the road (nothing was there) but the rpms skyrocketed up real fast and the car started to slow down. My first thought was of course "OH S**T” I pulled off to a gas station, and I'll shorten this story here to say this is what's up now:

No reverse (acts like neutral)
No 3rd gear (just won't go)
It will shift from first to second but really hard. It' kicks up high like it will redline but then kicks into gear really hard. It almost feels like a neutral drop if that helps at all. Any opinions, professional or otherwise, are very welcome at this point. Thanks
