I'm stuck at Ft. Drum and I have a 5-speed '95 TSi AWD and the other day the transmission would not shift into reverse. It seemed completely 'locked out' somehow. After some pulling, shaking and muscle I got it into reverse but then it was 'locked' out of 1st-5th gear. Some of my fellow Army buddies took a look at it and decided that beating on one of the levers (The copper one that moves up and down, I think it's for neutral) where the linkage hooks up to the transmission would fix it. After some more pulling, shaking and muscle I got it to pop into 5th, and thus 1st-5th but there was no reverse again. I know that I can just park where I can pull out but I'd rather have reverse so does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? Maybe a bent shift fork or something? Thanks guys! I'm taking it to Amco on Saturday because I couldn't do the work myself but I'd like to know if anyone's had this happen before and/or what it could possibly be. OMG

Did you check the clutch fluid? just cuz that's exactly what will happen when it's out of fluid...
