Ok, im selling my automatic tranny, and doing a 5 speed swap, a guy told me today, that he would trade me his 5speed for my auto,

and i asked him about center differential, and he said, its part of the tranny, that I DONT have to change the rear end of theauto matic car to get it to work,

is this right? i though i had the switch the rear end, with the tranny and tcase...

The "rear end" is the rear differential and driveshafts. You don't need to change this.

The "transfer case" in a DSM is just a bevel gear setup that takes the east-west drive out of the gearbox and couples it to the tailshaft. The centre diff is indeed inside the transmission.

So let me see if this is right.
Since I am doing a conversion, and have the entire clip, engine, tranny, xcase, and everything, I DONT need to do anything from the xcase back, but drop in the engine and tranny, and xcase, and everything else, is perfect? i dont need to switch the rearend in the automatic car?

and what do oyu think about swaping my automatic awd, for a 5speed awd. even steven
