Ok, is it just me or am I really getting screwed here. I desentigrated my clutch an my 3rd synchro was about shot. I took the car to AAMCO in Las Cruces, New Mexico. They are charging $680 for the clutch kit, they said i needed a new master cylinder, which i still dont think i need. When i intially talked to the shop i told them exactly what was wrong with the car. Well, they installed the clutch and master cylinder and put the tranny back in without checking the synchro, so now i have to pay for another rebuild on the tranny for something that should have been done the first go around. If you dared to read all of this, do you know of anything i can do to bring down the price. Oh yeah i forgot to mention that THEY ARE CHARGING ME $2130 TOTAL.

OUCH!!!! That hurts like hell. That sounds kinda shady to me. Is that a national chain??? If so, i would start calling some people higher up and see if you can get something taken care of. 680 is out of control for a clutch kit, i paid 300 for my ACT 2600 w/ organic disk.

Holy shit man.. $2300 is more than what a new TRE or BM tranny would cost you. That is why when I get my rebuild, I'm heading 360 miles south to Road Race Engineering to get it done right (double 2nd synchro, taller 1st, etc). Get it done right by a reputable dsm shop so you'll never have to worry about your transmission again.

Yeah I was actually referred by a father/son who specialize in DSMs. They said this place was the best, so since im not from this area intially, i took their word for it. I have done everything short of stealing the car back from them in the middle of the night. These people are feirce. I think I might be able to contact the local DA's office. They gave me the suppliers name (NAPA) and the OEM kit for my car was $188. Everyday i aquire a new bald spot.

I also have another question. Anyone know where i can get a healthy AWD setup including tranny?

LOL. Road Race Engineering can't even install a cat right. Mechanics are all the same.

I would fight the second charge.
where they forgot the synchro,
you paid them to FIX your tranny
not fix half of it.

i wouldnt stand for that shit.

:talon: Well the work is already done, and the car is just sitting there, all alone in the little yard thingy. Um, I do have one more option so, i think i can make something happen. :talon:
