I recently purchased a Talon Tsi. The car has different size tires front to back. What damage does this do to the Center diff or rear diff.

is it AWD? Sorry, I'm just asking because you just said TSi, those are just FWD.

Depends on how different the sizes are. Yes, it could damage the center diff.

it is 4wd. The front tires are 225/45 16. The back tires are 225/50 16 and one of the tires is the 17 inch GSX tire 215/50 17.

running that will be imminent death for your center diff, maybe the rear one too. all four tires need to have the same diameter. even tires that do not have the same wear can cause problems.

That's funny:confused: that is not what is in your sign:D

huh? Not in my sign? You mean my signature? Look again and no I haven't changed it.

Ouch, this sucks... The viscous coupling on your center diff is almost certainly dead. Your center diff probably has a lot of wear and free play (those things are not meant to see so much rotation), but might be rebuildable.

The free play in that center diff will make it more likely to fail upon a violent launch, so even after you correct this tire mismatch, you should take it easy until you have a chance to inspect/rebuild it.

The good news is that center diff and viscous coupling are relatively easy to replace. You would do it yourself for around $300.
