Lost reverse

I have a 91 Talon TSI AWD and the other day I took it up the road and back and I parked it. I came out like four hours later to move the car and it would not go into reverse. Then i got out and looked under the car and the the seal between the trans and the transfer case just started leaking. The thing i don't understand is that it would go into every other gear perfect. Can someone teel me if you have had this same problem or have any idea what might have caused it.

i've lost 5th and reverse once, but the bracket on the tranny holding the cables had tossed a bolt and came loose, just bolted her back up and she was fine. happened again wednesday actually, lost all but 3rd gear, it was the other bracket this time no leaks though
