so my car just started making this very vibrant sound in the transmission. i will put it in first, drive slowly, let the revs clmb slow without boosting. then i will give it more gas as if i wanted to build boost and the tranny makes a loud grinding sound/ vibrant sound, almost like i have v tec in my tranny. i drained the fluid to see if any metal chunks fell out and nothing appeared. anyone else have any thoughts on what this could be? im AWD with a welded center diff and a VCE. right now my transfer case is off as well as the drive shaft. thanks for the help.

Either the center diff busted the welds or broke completely or the VC did. Jack the car up off all 4 tires with transfercase and shaft in. put the car in gear and spin one of the front tires by hand and watch the rear tires to see if they spin at roughly the same speed. If not the the center diff probably broke. Is the car making aclunking noise when you turn or anything. That usually tells you if the diff is busted

i have a welded center diff and a viscous coupler eliminator in right now. and my transfer case is off as well as my drive shaft so i dont think i broke the center diff but it could possibly be the viscous coupler eliminator??? it doesnt make any clunking noises when i turn, i already experienced that when i broke my center diff.

if you take the cover off the tranny where the VCE is are the nuts on the gears above the VCE tight? they tend to back off due to vibrations and hard driving. Does the car feel like the clutch is slipping? have you checked to make sure flywheel bolts and PP bolts are tight? If you take the cover off the tranny and turn the VCE by hand does it turn smoothly and fairly easy with the t-case in? Try these things and let me know.
