Resolved 2G reinstalling axles?

Hi. I just changed the clutch on my car, got the transmission back on, and am trying to reinstall the axles.. Should i hear a distinct "click" sound or such, or is it going to just slide back into place.? The reason being is because i pushed them in as hard as i could, but i could also pull them back out.. I was afraid to take a hammer to it or some such because i didn't want to break it..

get out the hammer. you wont break em but if they arent in REAL damn good you will leak tranny fluid.
