I am thinking about resurfacing the pressure plate on my ACT 2100 to give to a friend of mine. The clutch has about 10000 miles and has a little glazing. Has anyone tried this?

Before we start grinding stuff down on the plate, do you think the flywheel has to be resurfaced to taller height. Factory calls for 0.610"+/-0.002. If we grind down the plate, it will no longer engage in deeper as the original spec would. So to accommodate for this, the flywheel, i think, should be resurfaced to no smaller than 0.610". That is why act clutches and other aftermarkets wans a step height of .608 because it is made out of remanufactured parts.

Yup agree, that's exactly what I said. Sorry for the misleading info on "Smaller than 0.610" ". What I'm trying to point out is that you don't the flywheel to be resurfaced passed 0.610". You want to resurface it to any value smaller than 0.610"-.002". 0.608" is recommended by ACT. So if you're planning on grinding the ACT pressure plate down and use their street disc, I would go even lower than 0.608". If you go too low, the clutch would not disengage. Good Luck.
