Hey,
i'm new to dsm's, i've been in the honda world for a while, and i now have a 90 turbo talon, however it has a bad tranny. I was wondering if ANY of the 5 speed trannies from 90-94 eclipse/talon/laser will work, like whether its turbo tranny or not, i just need to get it driveable now (asap) and would like to which trannies will work, not the best tranny, but ones that will work

thanks a lot

You have to make sure that you get a AWD tranny and it would be best to stick with either a 90 or 91 tranny make sure if you get a 90 tranny you get a 90 transfer case and the same be true with the 91's make sure your tranny and transfercase match up so the spline will match when putting it all together. I just ordered a tranny from a JDM importer for my 90GSX its got a 3 year 30K mile warrenty. its a JDM and it cost me $895. Good luck, tranny jobs are a blast :-/

You can install any tranny from 90 through 94, but if you have a 1990, it's best to stick with that vintage tranny, since if you want to change, you'll need to change the shifter cables along with the shifter assembly inside the center console. If you have a 1991 through 1994 car, the transmissions are completely interchangable, but you still need to make sure you have a trans that will work with your transfer case as far as spline count goes. Output shafts can be swapped fairly easily, but it does require removing one of the transmission casings, which some people just aren't comfortable with.

so a non-turbo '90 fwd tranny WILL bolt right into a '90 AWD turbo? if so, how do you go about leaving out the RWD? And do ALL '90 tranny's have the same spline count or what?

If you want to use a non-turbo trans, you will also need the nt flywheel and possibly the clutch assembly. As for leaving out the RWD, remove the driveshaft, and leave the rear diff and axles in the car, that should fo it. All 90 trannies do not necessarily have the same spline count. Some have probably been updated over the years.
