Im on a budget but need a good clutch, and wondering driveability wise what would be my best choice? Ill be running a big 16g under average(15ish psi), race occasionally and its my daily driver. Thx for advice in advance

My friend has a ('93GSX) that just upgraded to a 2600 but had a 2100 with a small 16G and some other things and the 2100 clutch is fine to drive as a daily, but i was informed that the 2100lbs was only good for 13 sec runs, so if your like me and looking to break in the 12's the 2600 should be the way to go. (i plan on getting the 2600 for my '90 AWD after i get a Big 16G and fuel system.) The 2100 might be enough, but will prob slip more. Just remeber to replace the Throw out bearing while your in there, and check out the flywheel.

I have a brand new 2100 in my car and it's not a pain to drive at all. I live right in the middle of the city and I still have no problems with driveability. My buddy has a 2600 and it's a little harder to drive in the city and you have to have some muscle in your left leg to drive smoothly. The 2100 will feel a little harder than the stock clutch, but you will get used to it by the time the break-in period is over.

First of all, clutches are very personable thing… Driving style differences aside (some driver are much tougher on clutches than others), what is just fine for one guy, is completely unbearable for another. In other words: “your results might vary” :).

Having said that, ACT 2100 is good enough to run mid to low 12 sec passes on somewhat consistent basis. I know a couple of people who got into high 11’s on that clutch. So I would recommend ACT2100 over ACT2600 for anyone running in the 12’s.

When you have a 2G, this choice is even easier to make. Since most 2Gs are prone to crankwalk, why aggravate the problems by getting a heavier clutch?

My advice: unless you are looking for 11’s in a very near future, get the ACT2100.

If you want to run 11’s “eventually”, you may still want to get ACT2100 because average clutch life expectancy (with some racing) is 1-2 years. So by the time you are ready to run 11’s, it will be time replace the clutch anyway and you can get ACT2600 when you really need it.
