Steve Crane - 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T Clutches
eClutchmasters Clutch
I bought an eClutchmaster's stage two clutch disk (sprung 6 puck) and a stage one pressure plate (2000 lb). eClutchmaster is a different company than Clutchmaster. I have to say that the clutch has held up so far to about 10,000 miles of hard driving, and plenty of track visits. It grips as hard as the day I put it in (it's a puck disk, I gave it next to no break-in). It is a fairly aggressive disk, even though it's sprung, it is somewhat chattery if you don't pay attention to what you're doing when you start to move. I'd say this is a race clutch that can be driven on the street more so than the other way around. Pedal pressure is stock because of the *only* 2000 lb pressure plate but it grips as hard as any clutch I've driven, and I've tried plenty. Bottom line, this clutch will take more abuse than the average DSM can throw at it, repeated launches, and overall abuse very well. It will also do it with a stock pedal. But, the pay off is that it's a 6 puck disk, and even though it is sprung, it is somewhat harsh on the street for the average person. Cost was only $330 shipped. I'm very happy with this clutch, even with the occasional chatter, I know it's already taken more abuse than some of the better know clutches would have handled.
