I have a 95 turbo fwd 5spd, and a 90 turbo fwd 5spd. Will the transmission from the 90 fit into the 95? If so what is involved?

No, you can't put a 1G tranny on a 2G or vice versa.

You could put a 2g awd tranny on 1g, but don't know on fwd.

Then I was misguided when I asked the same question. Sorry.

Yeah it's in vfaq and it shows what exactly you need to swap in a 2g tranny on your 1g awd.

The big issue with tranny swaps is the transfer case spline count and engine mounts. The 2G tranny holds 3 of the 4 engine mounts. The 1G trannies have only 1. See the issue?

2G trannies are fairly common in 1G cars because the block holds the engine mounts in 1G's. The other way around is a lot harder. Trust me. I have a 6-bolt block and a Galant VR4 tranny in my 96.

The only thing bothers me is the damn ballast hanging on the shift arm. I guess I'm not used to seeing one on 1g.

90 shifter assymbly is different: be warned..... you might have to swap your cables/shifter/mounting brackets or you'll have to modify your mountin bracket so it catches all of the gears and stays there.
