Freshly rebuilt 5 speed won't shift into reverse
Okay, so heres the deal, I just rebuilt my awd trans because when i bought the car 4th & reverse didnt work. The 3&4/5&R interlock was sloppy so all those issues were fixed. when testing the gears with the case apart it would go fully into all gears and now back in the car everything but reverse works. I pulled the reverse sensor on the top of the trans and it looks like the notch lines up perfect to the ball on the sensor. I checked all linkage, the shift cable has full range so thats not the problem. I replaced the slave cylinder and used an extended rod, that didnt work so i tried the stock rod, still the same thing. Is there something else in the hydraulic clutch system that would cause only reverse not to work? it will start to engage but pops out almost immediately. Also, if i hold the brake while letting the clutch out in reverse the car will simply stay in gear and die, if i bring it to the dying point and let of the brake it pops out of gear as soon as the car starts rolling.
