How to uninstall a lsd insert?

Does anyone have any tips on uninstalling an lsd insert? How do you recompress the insert to remove it from the diff?

Its simple u just knock it out then find the springs after they go flying. After that put it in a vice compress it then u can reinstall the pins and lock plates if u still have them

I used a set of panel holding vise grips. I clamped it and pushed it part way thru. Then switch the vise grips to the other side pulling it out. I promptly stuck it in the vise and pinned it together. Can we get a pic of the wear on it and the spyder gears once you have it disassembled?

Sure i'll take pics. Although, I'm trying to help a guy by transferring the lsd from one transmission to another. He has a spare FWD tranny and he wants to put the lsd insert into an AWD tranny. So I wonder can we just switch the entire differential assembly?
