Ottawa,
Ok as per the VFAQ on Transmission Rebuild on 1st Gens. Im at the step of removing the Transaxle Case Adapter. The process Seems pretty straight forward, but when I try to remove the case, it wont move. I tried hitting around it to break the seal, Heat Around the Seal, Prying, Chiselling.

My Transmission has obviously been rebuilt before because the last person sealed it with RTV.

Any suggestions as to how to proceed.

im not sure exaclty which piece your refering too but i can help a bit. The trans is sealed with rtv stock. It's a whitish-gray color and is a lot like the permatex gray.

most of the "slices" of the trans have a couple alignment pins. Find them and tap on them since thats where the ones i've taken apart usually stick.

Ok, so far you have removed:

*the bolts attaching the end cover to the transmission using a 14mm socket.
*5th gear end cover with wave spring
*reverse synchro
*snapring, viscous coupler, and ball detent from output shaft
*the 36mm end shaft nuts on the intermediate and input shafts
*5th gear assembly (input shaft/intermediate shaft gears, roll pin, shift fork, hub and slider assembly with needle bearings)

Then:
*The three 14mm bolts holding the ball and spring detents on the case (pictured)
*Remove the reverse sensor (I think it is a 22mm or 24mm deep socket or wrench) (pictured)
------------------------

Is this where you are at so far?

------------------------------
Next things to do:

*Pull off the intermediate sandwich plate
*Remove the M45 Torx bolt holding the Reverse gear assembly (pictured)
*Remove the restrictor ball assembly using a 17mm socket. (pictured)
*Remove ALL of the bolts connecting the main case to the bellhousing with your 14mm deep socket.
*Pull the main case, being careful not to break the black plastic oil guides.
*Pull the center differential from the output shaft
And on, and on, and on......

------------------------------

The sandwich plate has alignment pins, and there are a few places to get on it with a prybar and GENTLY separate them.

The RTV wasnt stock, It was red and whoever put it back together used a lot of it.
Made it quite difficult to get off.

Now to keep going.
