Hi.
I just want to know if I can use a gearbox from a non turbo eclipse lika the GS on a 4G63T engine from a eclipse GSX
if both are from the same year and both from a 6bolt car?
will it work?
and please don't say "just get a gearbox from a eclipse GSX" since I live in Sweden I can't get a gearbox from a GSX, we didn't get those here in Europe!!

Thanks!!!

well sure I can probably get a evolution gearbox, but not in sweden.
I don't think they came here either, well not untill EVO V at least.
and I need a FWD gearbox too

but thanks anyway

1) Welcome to the board

2) Wrong forum, should have posted in Drivetrain

3) The gear ratios on the gearbox of a non turbo and a turbo are different. So you probably would not want to use one in place of the other. Is this a 2G or 1G?

4) When can I come visit so I can see some street racing?! :) (and how far is Stolkholm from Nurberg Germany? Yes I spelled it wrong, forgive me, it's 6:00am I can't spell in the moring)

Thanks.
I would think it will fit, and they may even be the same model of gearbox (the turbo and non turbo) but I want to know for sure before I buy a non turbo one.

and keep in mind it is FWD, and manual, and 6bolt, 1991.

thanks again
/Dan

Ah, 1G. If 4g63tc is right, a quick check in the shop manual should verify it. One of us will post it sooner or later (I don't have my shop manual handy )

does you car have a vin code? if so check the 8th digit if it is a U then it is the same gearbox if you can find the code for the transmission it would make it easier to cross reference (ie: 1991 eclipse ga auto # f4a33)

the Vehicle Identification Number should be located on the dash board of the Car usually in one corner of the windsheild, or located in the doorjamb of the drivers side

this number is used to identify make, model, and options country of origin.

well see, I have a engine from one car, and that car is divided into smaaall pieces so I can't read anything from that one.
and the car that the engine is going into is not an eclipse, it's a mirage/colt soo that wount do much good, soo I can't get a VIN number
sorry.

The transmission will bolt up.

The flywheel will not work though.

Gearing is a non-issue since you're working with FWD.

If you're bolting it into a C53A Mirage/Colt (1.6 turbo model), you'll have to play with the axle flange seals in order to get the axles to fit.

Yes, it can and has been done.

ok, but will the mirage 1,6 NON TURBO gearbox/transmision fit on the 4G63T?
because I have heard of people using their 1,6 turbo gearbox/transmission with the 4G63T and just bolt up

are they the same gearbox?
it should be well atleast the engines look the same except from the turbo ofcourse. but if I buy a eclipse gearbox, what else do I need?
from the non turbo eclipse that is?!
axles? or do they already fit?

Hi.
I have a KM206 gearbox in my car and I'm doing a swap from the 4G61 non turbo engine to the 4G63T engine.

I would like to know if I can use the gearbox that is in my car now with the new engine.
and what parts I need to make it work if any.

Thanks.

man i was gonna hook you up with some links I had to mirage message boards but I all of the sites are gone now. I figured one of them would have been able to help you b/c several have done swaps before but all the sites are dead.
