Have a weird problem and need to know if anyone else has had a similar situation and what the solution, if any, that you may have found. Long story short, I keep snapping the pivot on the shifter (where it attaches to the vertical portion). The part that I have snapped twice seems to be welded from the factory and it has broken on me twice and not even under stress at that time. I don't know if it's just me shifting too hard or there is a manufacturer defect (like we don't have enough of those already), or is it just a coincidence. If it helps my drivetrain mods are as follows: TRE stage 1 trans with a 4 spider center diff, Jun flywheel, metal shifter bushings (under the center console only), and a Greddy counterweight shift knob. I don't think that the shifter bushings are causing this but I would like to hear what someone else thinks.

Can we get a photo by any chance?I'm not sure what part you mean.

I'm trying to figure if a short throw shifter would solve your problem or not. The B&M has a piece so that you change the pivoting point of the shifter.

there is a round shaft pivot that goes through the shift lever itself and the shaft is welded to a vertical plate from the factory. The weld has broken on me twice. No mater what, I will not put a short throw shifter in my car unless it is a last resort. I would rather keep braking this plate than cause the damage to a $3000 TRE trans that can happen with the use of a short throw shifter.

This happened to me recently when I was just driving to work. After looking at the part a friend and I came to the conclusion that it's just welded shittily from the factory. We cleaned it up and he welded it nice and good like. Haven't had a problem since.

Well, at least I know that I'm not the only one with this problem. I'm still wondering how common of a problem this is an if there is a permanent fix.

I just told you. Reweld it so that it doesn't break.

OK, now that I know what part you are talking about, I second the rewelding. Just have it done or do it yourself very well. Shouldn't be an issue after that... we hope. :)

I've already ordered the new part from the dealer ($44) but I might take the old part and have it rewelded for a spare. Thanks

I still say Amber shifts better than you.:p

Just have Adam weld it and return the other part .
Or hold on to the part you just bought and put the
welded one on then you have no worries. Simple
