Nova,
I was wondering if anybody had any info about this product. Suppousedly when I toast my viscous coupling in an AWD, there is this new product that will eliminate it (its just one solid hunk of metal), also making it so I can run on a 2wd dyno. I saw it in a magazine a month or so ago (I think it was sport compact car). Wondering if anyone else saw it and got the info.

Team rip sells them. I was thinking of getting one. Does any one has more info on them??

How easy are they to install with the tranny in the car??

yo check this out-- www.bmtranny.com they supply viscous coupling.

have you guys had the viscous coupling problems in your AWD, well I have, I opened the side of my tranny which the VC is located and I saw it kind of cut in half and showing metal parts inside of it, please let me know if you have problems like this.

The VC is in by the center diff. What you might of seen was a blown center diff instead. That happens when you launch the crap out of your car.

You guys should know that installing the welded Viscous coupling or the VCE will put ALL the stress on the canter diff.

So if you are planning on suing it in your AWD as an AWD car for better launches 60' start saving for a new diff. Especially if you are making a bit of power.

Also with the solid Viscous your car will drive like an old school 4WD truck with th rears bouncing around when you turn corners since they will both have to turn at the same speed.

Just something to thinik about.

I have a wlded Viscous, but I only intend to use it when I go to the dyno....it is good becasue it's rught there when you take off the trany cover instead of the diff which is deeper in the trany.

I don't know about a welded VC putting ALL the stress on the diff....I ran a stock 2 gear Cdiff in my shopcar for 3 years running mid 11's without it breaking. it finnally let go 2 weeks ago at the same time as 4 bolt axle snapping. If was fine untill I put 4 drag radials on the car and tried to run 1.50's. going 1.60's the diff took over 140 launchs over the past 3 seasons.

IMHO i think the welded VC HELPS the stock diff. Seems to me most of the time people break the diff is when they are getting big tire spin, and it starts to wheel hop. Seems to me the shock of it having to change speeds real fast when wheels are spin/nospin/spin/no spin has alot to do with breaking it.

The "old school 4X4 truck commment is totally true....a welded VC car can be scary in the rain also...don't try going on the highway and taking corners in rain with it welded....you can find yourself backwards in the guardrail quick.

it will also wear out your tires substantialy quicker from them sliding in corners.

I don't know, everywhere I've read and everyone I've talked to seems to say this.

When the VC is welded all the load is now going directly on the center diff. immediately when launching.

Are you sure it only broke 2 weeks ago? I have a friend that had his shatter in pieces and he was driving around like this for a while. He kept saying that his car didn't feel as fast as it used to, but the thing was so quick he was the only one that thought this way. One day opened up the tranny and found the spider gears in pieces. He now is running a 4 spider gear diff. I m really surprised that your diff lasted so long with the welded VC and the power you are making to go 120mph.

Ya, running the welded VC on the street can be a lot of fun because you can get the ass end out around corners like a RWD, but I don't think I would want to run like this all the time.

Well it definatly broke either on that launch, or the week before...I had the tranny apart for a broke fork in the fall before i put it away for the winter. That tranny was the one i used for 3 strait seasons...going 11's all 3 years.
