Transfer case fitment issue

I just went to install my transfer case and the driveshaft plugged in fine and the input shaft went in fine, but for some reason the transfer case itself doesn't clear a notch in my bell housing. Also, there seems to be two large "arms" (not sure what to call them) the position two bolt holes higher up that don't seem to go into anything. Anyone have any ideas?
