Hey guys. I sold my 1g laser and I bought a 95 awd talon. Its a stick and I am in the process of putting my new engine in and I have a few concerns about transmission, differential and driveshafts. First off here is what i got

4G63 block with 2.4 liter crank
Wiesco pistons and Scat connecting rods
1g head with some minor port work in the bowls(just behind the valves)
1000cc injectors and 255 walbro hp fuel pump
DSM Link
ACT 2600 or Slowboy 3500 (not sure yet which one I will get)
Turbonetics T4 62-1 turbo http://www.turbochargers.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=21_37&products_id=184
I am still in the process of picking out a FMIC but i will have one before this is all up and going.

Will I need stronger half shafts? and I was also told that the spider gears will not be able to hold this level of power is that correct? I am shooting for 450-500hp. What else can I exspect will need to be replaced?

Buy it as it breaks, fill up everything with some thick fluid and see what happens:thumb:

I was hoping to avoid some simple problems by doing the work beforehand. I went to a local shop and found out about converting the 2 spidergears to four gears. Is the rear diferential going to hold up just fine?

What is the car going to be used for? If its drag only, you might want to try welding the center diff. If its for street, then you could go with the 4 gears.

Really, your clutch choice is the most important here. The stronger the clutch, the more drivetrain punishment there will be. The weaker, obviously less harm, but more slip. It really does depend on the use of the car.

If you are racing it, chances are you will break alot of things anyway, so your best off to just wait and see what breaks instead of dumping loads of money into it now, and maybe realizing you should have gone with an even more durable half shaft/ driveshaft....

Also is your tranny new?

I am using this car as my daily driver and it will see the 1/4 mile track maybe once a month during the summer and fall. The tranny isnt new. I dont have enough money right now to get a tre or shep trans. Would be nice though.

The rear lsd and four spider gears will handle the power you'll be making. Because of the torque I would think act 3200 plus street disk. Just shift it nicely and you should have time to save up for your built tranny.

Is that even stronger than the 2600 ACT? I would asuusme so but man, that seems like an intense clutch.

Well, since they redid the 2900 and 3200's they have alot less pedal pressure. My 2900 actually has less pedal pressure then the act 2600's I've driven. The 3200 should be a little stiffer, but with the torque down low that you'll be making it should work out well for you. The street disk should help keep it drivable for daily use.
