I need to replace the rear diff and axles in my 98 auto talon. will the diff fro an automatic 96 work? Were there any variations from 95-98?

As far as my understand goes, you should be able to. Ive seen people doing sypder AWD conversions.

if you are a 5 speed i dont think it will work because of the different gear ratios and final drives.

I'm automatic. I know the 5spd wont work just wasnt sure of rear diff variations in 96-98 autos. thanks

According to Mitsu CAPS there are only 2 diffs made for the auto 2g. I looked it up but you would need the month and year of the donor diff and the month and year of your car. Or better yet get the part numbers off them :D
