I was at the track today and did a couple passes and my right front tire/front tires just smoked coming out off the line at 4750. The tranny was built by shep and its a AWD car. WHen I am riding around and coming out from a dead stop it pulls hard and I can tell all 4 tires are being used. I hope this all makes since, if it does please help me out.

I do have the antilag checked on through DSM Link could this be a problem as it keeps the turbo spooled and me coming out of the hole under boost it is making me spin my front tire/tires. Help me please. I am running low eight's now with really bad reaction and 60 foot times. I am putting in a 2600 PP this week b/c the clutch slips:cry: really bad after a run of course with the 2100. I like to get things working togather to put me in the high 7's.

Thanks to all,

T

Eights without a center spool? (quarter or eighth?) In any event, that's what you're missing.

Have you/anyone installed a center spool in your car? If you have was it hard to and any special tools needed or can it be done with the common wrenchs in my building? I thought about purchasing the TRE center spool.

Ive been meaning to post this for a while but it keeps slipping my mind. A few months ago, someone showed me how to break my tranny but doing a stupid style of peelout. Put it in N hold the ebrake, rev to 6 and drop it into drive. It smoked the tires a lot but I like my tranny and my tires. The weird thing is that my right tire would spin faster and smoke more than my left tire. What is the deal with this? Is it because I was sitting in the driver seat and all the weight was on the left side or what?

Neutral Drop=BAD :notgood:
Your passenger tire has the most velocity to it for the same reason torque steer occurs. When the transmission is not centered in the the axles are different lengths. The axles can have the tendency to twist like a torsion bar. The shorter axle has less twist than the longer one so it will spin. Also since you don't have LSD( limited slip differential) it will spin the wheel that spins the easiest.

I know I dont really do n bombs, I will leave that to the Hondas. I only did it twice, the first time nothing happened but I didn't rev too high, maybe 3k rpm, second time at 6 it just felt like pure murder on my tranny. I just got nervous thought something was really mesed up since one wheel was spinning. Would upgraded axles help out with torque steer? Or an upgraded passenger one to even out the driver one.

Actually the axles can be made out of different material so that even though they are unequal lengths they have similar twisting points. I pretty sure some new cars come with this.

I would be interested in seeing a credible source for this information. The trend I have seen is to use the ABS and speed sensors which detect that 1 wheel is spinning faster than another. When it records this info it then directs the brake be applied to only that wheel.

It never ceases to amaze me how people will tell someone else how to destroy their car and are so ready and willing to please they pull these stunts. Does anyone bother to tell them what CAN happen and how much it will cost to repair BEFORE they have a lapse in mental judgment. Violating what in all probability would not be P/C I can think of no other word than stupidity but then I'm not making payments or having to explain why and how it broke. The exception is when some parent brings in the family car and claims warranty or I didn't fix their car right only to find out they let their kid make a grocery store run and they don't know why the engine mounts are torn and have an exhaust rattle and leak.

Few weeks ago another member destroyed his differential which now is costing $800 so he has the loss of his car while he earns the money all from buddies goading him into doing a burnout.

Cheers,
GTM

The guy suggesting this form of behaivior didn't perhaps have a pocket full of business cards advertising a transmission shop ,did he?LOL

I was young once and I still remember some of the stupid stuff we did with cars...It usually ended poorly, with nothing but a funny story and a long walk home....followed by explanations...
Jeez, I don't know pops..."Don't driveshafts come all twisted up like that?".... or my personal favorite..."must be a manufacturers defect".....ROFL

What my friends didn't see is me riding the bus to work and working overtime to pay for the carnage...:toobad:

When I had my muscle cars, I would install a Line Lock. It is a kit wherein you install a valve between the master cylinder and which ever set of brakes you want to lock (ie: FWD you would install the valve on the rear brake line). You pump the brakes and then press the little 'ole button and let go of the brake pedal and the brakes stay 'locked'. Then you can get raise your rpms to preload or spin the tires and when you are ready to go, let go of the button and the brakes release. Simple, but effective. Obviously, you would not use this on AWD...
