I now drive a 98 talon esi auto. i know i know they suck but im handicapped nothing i can do about that, cancer sucks dont get it. anyhow when im driving up to a stop sign or a red light and i have to slow down i press on the brakes lightly. well when my car downshifts it does it hard sometimes to the point where my passenger and even feel it. we took the car to the shop the first time they reset my transmission. didnt work. took it again they replaced the battery cuz my old battery was low and they reset it once again. didnt work. this is the third time it going back for this problem does anyone know what it could be so i could give the idiots at the shop an idea of what to look at ... thanks

ouch. it could be anywhere from the powertrain management unit to crap making the valve body stick partially or even a broken accumulator spring.....dont think its a clutch pack seal though cause then it would slip and wind out easily.

When gears lose teeth, they can have that same problem. My Ranger's rear started doing the same thing when I downshifted, then when I accelerated too, and finally it would bang all the time. I wish I had fixed it before it broke 30 miles from home. Check the tranny fluid, look for teeth or metal shavings. Hope I'm wrong, good luck:dsm:

I got that same problem with my eagle talon 92 A/T non-turbo,,,It often happens when my car is cold , after a few hours of driving it does'nt bang anymore...im using mobil tranny fluid,,,maybe DSM tranny's r really weak:barf:...im thinking of changing tranny fluid every oil change to see any improvements

heres something funny like when i would come to stops it would do it all the time. i would have my dad in the car everytime i drove it because i was only on my permit well i got my license about 5 days ago and i have been running it pretty hard and it bairly does it anymore its like it needed a nice little kick in the butt haha. but it still does it every once in a while yeah i thought about changing my tranny fluid also. im gonna run it through the winter and see how it does. im still under warranty from where i bought it so if i have any problems they best be ready to drop a new tranny it cuz its bull. but yeah let me know how that works and also i was thinking the other day mine started doing it when the temp got below 60 or so i never noticed it this summer.

ur lucky ur car is still under warranty...mine is 92 ...ur car tranny shouldn't be banging like that since its only 4 years old...anyways good luck,,, hope u get it fixed and find out the problem...i hope mine would last for at least 3 more years

i just so happened to find a dsm shop about 10 minutes away from me i didnt even know about and they guy said hes going to look at my car free of charge so ill just take it back to the dealership and tell them what to fix haha now they wont have an excuse...haha anyhow thanks and take it easy
