Horrible shaking

My car for the past few days has been shaking horribly. It only does it when I am on the gas. If I am cruising at a steady speed it is fine. If I am in decel (in or out of gear it is fine) It gets to be the worst around 45-50 mph. At WOT it gets pretty bad. It is not a vibration, the whole car is shaking. It definitely has nothing to do with steering or suspension. I am almost positive it is drivetrain related. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Phil

Check to see if the carrier bearings on the driveshaft have excessive play to them.

It seems like the carrier bearings may have a little too much play in them. I also noticed that the 2g bearings are not like the 1g. Does anyone know if you can fill these with silicone?

I saw a post about someone doing it by hanging the driveshaft up and just letting gravity help out in spreading the silicon in the void of the carrier bearing's boot.

As I said it seemed like the carrier bearings had a little too much play in them. I went to Lowe's, got some silicone, and filled em up. It worked like a charm. The carrier bearings are rock solid.

It didn't fix the problem at all though. Anyone have any ideas where to check next? CV joints maybe?

I have the same prob...The whole car is shaking violently when I try to accelerate. At idle there is no problem....Looking under my car I noticed that my transfer case is leaking really badly and I have yet to get the recall done. When I turn the wheels off the ground, my driveshaft makes a noise. Also I've already had all my inner and outer tie rod ends replaced so I doubt it's that.

I talked to Road Race, and the first thing they suggested was the inner cv joints. I checked the joints, and my drivers side front axle inner boot had come off. It looked as though some grease had leaked out, and some water had gotten in. I ordered a new axle, and it will be here Monday. I hope it fixes this damn problem.

Just for any kind of archive information the problem in my car was caused by an inner cv joint going bad. It was absolutely trashed. Good first check for anyone who is having this problem. I replaced the axle with a Raxles axle, and so far so good.
