Alright, so I bought my car used from a dealership a few months ago, and had never taken it on the highway until yesterday. It turns out that when I shift to 5th gear, my RPM's at around 70 mph will be at 3500. Is this normal for the manual transmission on DSM's?

I contacted the dealership since the car was modified by the previous owner. They had no records of any transmission modifications on the car. Any ideas?

Yeah man, I wouldnt be worried about anything. Mine settles down right at about 3400rpm's at 70 in 5th. Just screams 6-speed if you ask me, I'd sure as hell love another gear. 6th gear in a z28 rests at like 2200rpm's, wouldnt that be sweet to be going 150+ at like 5 grand? I know apples to oranges but it's late.

Hey my car does that too we took my car on an old high way and ran it 125 @5000 rpms. I was mad i wanna beable to run fast on the highway runs.. But i dont do that much any more :| But i guess i just wanna have a higher top speed.. Im thinking about asking some one what and how much it would cost to make my 5th longer.. but idk cause im estemating it be like 8-1200 dollors so i might just say screw it.. and 3000 rpms isnt really a big big gas saver :(
