DSMs are known to have an axel snaping problem. would a lsd help with that if not what would? I'm in the process of buying a 90 talon AWD. I'm going to build the motor so while the motors out I might as well work on the tranny so what all can I do to beef it up and also do something to prevent from snaping axels?

youve probably never expeirenced this due to the modifications on your car! my freind has a 12 second talon he snaps axels all the time, so does anyone with knowledge know how to fix this or if there is something that he is doing wrong? this is on street tires

See once again you are making statements that are totally incorrect. I have a little knowledge.
Tell your friend to learn how to drive! That is why he is snapping axels. There is no other reason for them to break unless he is making 500hp. He does have to "dump" the clutch at 6000rpm to get a good launch.

thanks I didn't know, I thought it was the car!

I think any form of LSD would help prevent snapping axles due to spreading the power more evenly. But I would recommend the Quaife, I don't really like the idea of a clutch type LSD because it can wear unlike the Quaife. And you also have to break in a Kazz LSD also unlike the Quaife.

I have to agree with ILose, I haven't heard of many DSM's having problems with snapping axles. What axle is your friend breaking and where is it breaking? Maybe there is another reason for why he keeps breaking them. Good luck!

Mike
