i burned up my clutch pretty bad the other night and im pretty sure i need a pressure plate too. but what i am afraid of is putting too much load on the transmission. my buddy blew up his transmission when he put a act2600 in his wrx without supporting mods. so can anyone tell me what else i should upgrade when i put my new clutch in to avoid damaging anything else??

since my tranny just broke, im replacing my clutch too. and all the guys ive talked to say to replace the flywheel too, especially with a stronger clutch (esp. ACT 2600). since im replacing my tranny, i dont know what YOU could do to help the tranny survive a tough clutch, but you might want to get the synchros checked out (mine broke) and it locks up the whole damn thing so you cant even push it easily. so while the tranny is out of the car, get it checked over by a specialist or even yourself. look for pieces of metal in the tranny fluid, definate sign of tranny failure. but just dont assume that your existing trans can handle a new strong clutch with nothing else, at least replace the flywheel. i mean you have to get the flywheel resurfaced anyway with any clutch replacement, so just put a new one in.

If you are upgrading to a heavier clutch I would recommend upgrading the clutch fork as well. One less thing to replace down the road if you happen to romp on it alot. It's a little thicker and I've "Heard" it really helps on disengagement, which seems to be a problem with some of the aftermarket clutches.
