I have a 96' non-turbo Talon, which odviously, after reading this post, is a manual. Today I was driving and all of the sudden it seemed like my shifter wasn't shifting in the way it should be. It felt as though the shifter assembly was angled towards me in a way. But was still shifing to all gears. Then I stopped the car got back in it and now it will go into first third and fifith but not into second fourth and reverse. Well it will but it springs back out of it. So I pulled off the center consol off and don't see anything that catches my eye. So I drove off again and I shifted into first fine, second won't stay in but even if I hold it there its like being in neutral. Same with fourth and reverse, but third and fifth still work. It seems like anything from neutral down is just very loose. What could be my problem? No after market parts that have to do with the transmission or the shifter.

ok my problem ended up being that one of the bolts for one of the bracket for one of cables broke so they have to tap it out but they cant get to it unless they take out the tranny. Is this true or should I take it to someone else, they want $600
