I was just wondering if everyone else's tranny did the same as mine - While in gear you can move the shifter about 1/2" left and right. 5th gear doesn't do it at all, and I was driving my friends 91 and noticed his didn't do it either in any gear. Just wondering what this means is worn/broken and are there any fixes besides a rebuild? Ordered the Symborski kit but I don't think that helps with left to right movement. Thanks, Erick

mine does the same thing and it did it before i installed my short shifer...

also still does it..

is there any way that people know to fix this problem?

also im having a problem of when i shift hard into 2nd gear my new shifter at the base actually hits the bracket that the shifter sits in and i looked at the stock one and i noticed that the stock one at the bottom is about 2 quarters thick and i noticed that the bottom of my upgraded one is about as thick as a nickle sideways....

any input?
please if so please asap! pm me!

shifter play is from syncros... a normal wearout part, but accelerated by leaving your hand on the shifter and moving it around while in gear...... basically pulling a vin desiel... the whole slouching with a hand on the wheel and a hand on the shifter....

hehe as I said its the syncros... you can replace them, kinda expensive, or just let it fly... it doesnt really do any damage to anything... just wiggles around some.... as they get worse your shifting will become jerkier........
