I drive a 1998 mitsubishi Galant. The suspensions/transmission is set up just like a 2g, so here goes...

So This is the last thing I have to do before my engine comes out. I removed the 32mm bolt off the hub and the axle moves somewhat freely, but not enough to clear the hub. I disconnected the endlink and took out my suspension(installing KYBs) but it still will not come out. I tried to disconnect the steering knuckle from the control arm(Haynes said to do so) but after removing the bolt they were still stuck together. I read on VFaq that I am supposed to use a pickle fork to get them apart, what is a pickle fork? Anywho, here are some pics of where I am at, any help is appreciated!

It's hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like only the swaybar is unbolted. Usually you need to unbolt the suspension upright- the part that goes up from the hub to the body. Sometimes you can pop the steering knuckle out by lightly tapping it with a hammer. It's pressed in. Otherwise use a pickle fork, which is a two pronged wedge.

If that's not enough clearance, try pushing the axle in. The CV joint has some freeplay. Also try lowering the hub at the same time.

I am sorry I do not know everything about cars, I was just asking for help. Thanks pneumo for the advice, I am pretty sure I can get them off, I just did not spend a whole lot of time with it. Next time I will just keep my questions to myself...

Ive done this, Its Actualy VERY easy. Theres a Crossmember right below the Passanger side Axle, take that out. Now Theres a couple ways to take out the axle, Kockout the tierod for ur steering rack, and swing the hub all the way to one way ( i forget, I didnt do it this way)

Get under the car with a pry bar, and pry between the axle and the trans, theres a C-Clip that hold that axle into the trans, just pry ur heart out, you will hear it pop.

This is what I did after that, I unbolted the hub from the Shocks ( Two Bolts\nuts ) that alows the hub to fall down, using a hammer, Tap ( Not BANG\Slam ) on the end of axle that will push it out of the hub it take a little feness trying to get it out, but its VERY simple.
