i have a 98 gsx, about a year ago i put in a rebuilt motor, the motor i got was a head from a 95-97 (cam sensor on front, which was switched) and a block from a 99 FWD (as per the vin#), i have a fully new tranny for a 98 awd in the car, my questions is this:
what flywheel should i be using? I have a xact street light flywheel in now for a 98 awd w/an ACT 2100 for the 98 awd as well.
does haveing a block for a 99 fwd car w/a flywheel and clutch for a 98 awd car mounted to a tranny for a 98 awd car present any problems?
the reason i am asking is i have been getting this noise in gear (mostly 3rd) at higher RPM's (2800-3000) w/my foot slightly on the accelerator coming from the front the noise is hard to discribe and i am trying to get a wav. file set up of it, but its like hahahahahaha.
sorry for the vagueness but this thing is driving me nutz. If any one knows of any good driveline shops in the NE please let me know.

Long as it is a 7bolt flywheel for an AWD you will be okay.

leet,
thanks, that is what i have. I am grasping at straws here. Mitsu. just put in a new tranny (had a new tranny in Oct. 02) under warrenty and i am still having the same noise. I am also getting a coast down howl, but i think that it is from the shims in the rear diff. after mitsu installed the new tranny they are thinking that the noise is from the center diff. but they are not sure.
i am truley ready for a STI right about now.
again thanks for the input and i will try to get a wav. file of the noise(s)

My brand new trans from TRE has some coast down howl. Long as it shifts fine and doesn't seem too clunky you should be alright.
