Just got back from weighing the car, i was able to shed another 160lbs this past winter, with a weight of 2560! The race weight is 2780 with my fat ass in it. So im ready to find more things to rip out besides the front interior, i want it to still look good from the front seats up.

You gotta do my diet, work 20-22 hours per day, eat one protein filled and carb filled meal (chicken and pasta), work so hard you burn triple the calories you are intaking and drop 30 pounds in 2 months.

I wish my car was that light! I easily have 300-450# more weight with driver in mine.

So far we've seen 150+ trap speeds and a mid-9 pass with a horrible 60ft on just 38psi of boost on a hot day with intake air temps gaining 60-65* from the start to the end of the run....AND he's out of injector. Just too much improvement to be had with the current setup to throw in the towel and switch to a larger turbo.
What sort of airflow were you guys squeezing through that .70 T3 hotside? Any idea what drive pressure looks like with the HX40 turbine crammed in there?

On my S200sx-59 I went and tried 5 different turbine housings, I had a 5bar MAP threaded in to my EGR blockoff plate and found the .70 T3 was still around 2.x:1 Drive/Boost @ 37-38psi and 62-63lbs/min, IIRC

V3 SD calibrated with an Evo8 MAF.

This was with an open 3" downpipe and an ebay tubular manifold with 1-5/8" runners and the 74/64 wheel, not the smaller ~60 exducer BEP turbine wheel.

Overall I picked up 7.x lbs/min out the top end going from the bolt-on .55 BEP housing to the Airwerks divided T4, probably would've made more as I didn't raise the boost any higher than that even though that is already approaching the choke flow limit for the 59mm ETT wheel.

I can't find my logs from spring 2010 when most of this went down unfortunately.

What are you guys looking to do to bring IATs down toward the end of the pull?

Yeah Justin is right, we're going to push this setup as far as we can before thinking about another setup, and thats IF i even want to leave the hx40.

Other plans for the car is to hole saw some holes in the rear bumper, ( i got word that if i do that it could net me a few more mph in the 1/4). When you're trapping 150+ every little thing you do for aerodynamics/drag, can really make a difference!

Also, unfortunately I won't be doing any racing untill i get a cage in this thing, I have a kid due in June, so i would like to meet him..lol but if i can find a Hx35 with a t3 70ar housing i may go with it, to see what the car runs.

So your going back to an OE comp wheel? Do you know which one yet?

The aero certainly plays a big part when your chugging along above 120mph, are you going to do anything to drop pressure in the wheel wells too? Or just under the bumper cover?

It does sound like theres still a significant bit of improvement left on the table.

Can't wait to see the results when all that is sorted now that you're down below 2800 wet with pilot!

...OR we could just throw your skinny ass in the car and it will run guaranteed 8's.

Around 70-72lb/min peak with both the 6-blade 60mm cast and 6-blade 60mm BatMoWheel.

No clue- it's been boost and pray so far.

If anything changes, I may track down a .82 Garrett T3 housing and have it machined- that's the housing that is making the magic happen on the FP3794. If it can handle the airflow from that turbo's enormous compressor, it can surely handle what a HX40 can produce.

Anything better than it did with the Buschur street core.

Same 60mm 6-blade with the chipped compressor fin that was on the car when it went 10.02 at the Shootout logging under 60 lb/min due to a boost leak in the intercooler core the size of Alaska.

Lol i do need to go on a diet! Also i took the car to get weighed with the street rims and tires on it, and my wheels with the slicks are 10lbs lighter each then the street ones, so theres 40lbs less in race trim. I have a couple jobs im doing here soon, so that money will go torwards the roll cage, so im hoping i can get all the money together soon so i can race!

Went for a nice cruise today, and the dogbox is alot of fun on the street got alot of looks cause of the side exit and the real loud whining from the trans..lol did a couple 1-2-3 shifts without the clutch with no boost and that was exciting.

Well, I picked up a shell with a 10 point chromoly cage and chute mount like a week ago, so Im swapping everything over to the new shell. The shell came pretty much bare with no brake lines, wiring ect! so I have a task ahead of me.
Its a shame I have to scrap a perfect shell to put this one together but oh well life goes on.
So far I have the rear diff and subframe swapped, front subframe and motor swapped. Once I take the car to Frontline fab to have the front roll stop/tube frontend put on, I'll take the motor back out so I can have the engine bay painted to match the car( which is gonna be grey again and look the same as my old talon)... I picked up some manual window doors for it that way I dont have to run wiring. Im also only runing the engine harness and do away with all the other wires in the intire car, and build a custom gauge cluster with autometer gauges! I may run brake, and parking lights but thats about it, its just a drag car now!

Here are some photos of the progress, and more to come as I go!

I'm almost as excited as you, Dave. That cage looks impressive! The car is going to leave the line like never before with the increased overall rigidity of the chassis.

Looking forward to 2200lb curb weight, 8-second passes, and 160+mph trap speeds from the old 6-blade HX40! More importantly, the car will be safer.

Are you going to fab up a tubular front end or cut the front support off the old talon and weld it up? I think the tubular would be quite a bit lighter!!

I cant wait to see this run at the shootout!

Looking good Dave, hope the shell treats you well and ends up being a solid deal for you rather than having a cage put in your old car. Keep me posted!

Thanks Nate. The car is coming together good, just alot of work. I got the trunk latch bracket welded in, so now the trunk latches! Now got to get the dash hangers welded on the fire wall, then the dash will be ready to go in.

Pic of the old talon right before it goes to the junk yard to be crushed.

Thanks guys!!! Please some of you dont get your hopes up for the car to make it to the shootout, theres just so much that needs done, while getting ready for the new born, baby room, and everything else that comes with having your first child... plus the wife will be off work for 4 weeks at minimum once he pops out..lol so money will be tight. Im gonna do my best to get it there, but no promises!

Im gonna start on the bumper, rad, intercooler, and headlight hangers this weekend so im hoping that goes smooth! Can't wait to have this thing weighed once all put together!

Ok guys, I have been working my ass off to get this car ready for the shootout!
I got the frontend mostly done, just have to mount the bumper, and headlights! Then its off to paint, start doing wiring, and putting it back together! Also, once the bumper is mounted its going back down to Andrew @ frontline fab for intercooler piping and a new side exit exhaust!!!

Few parts I got in!

More picture's of the frontend-

Once everything is done and welded, its getting sanded down, and painted to match the color of the car! Should look good

I thought to myself today.. "dsm tuners has been very quiet without updates from Dave" Decided to type yourame into the search and this is the first thing to show up and its bad ass! Its sad to see your old chassis junked but the new roller was definatley cheaper then getting the new cage put in the old chassis. AWESOME progress. Congrats on the baby on the way! I really want a tube front end put in my car and this looks so awesome. Im looking to do it myswelf though to save cash and weight, mine wont be as pretty if the job ever gets started. Hope to see ya at the shootout but if ya dont make it its understandable.

If your looking for a lighter driver for your car I'll GLADLY take it down the track for you.
I hope I dont see this car get parted out and it continues to get faster but if it does I already have my eye on this car like a hawk!

If I lived closer you wouldn't have to ask for help. Im not the best at body work but even for moral support I could lend a hand. Cant wait to see this beast again at the shootout. meeting you and Justin last year was awesome.

Things are going a little slow, busy being a dad and all! But I have some progress. The car is definitely not going to make it to the shootout, still have alot to do, have to install new brake lines all around, do all the wiring which will be custom and only what I need. The body work still needs finished, then painted, door jams and all, which takes time. I have the roof painted black so thats done, and just got the engine bay painted, now the motor can go back in, and head down to Frontline Fab to have the intercooler piping made, along with a new SS side exit exhaust!!! Then wiring and so on... Here's some photos of it coming along, should be sweet!

New custom Gauge cluster!

Quick release kit on for test fitting, will finish once painted!

Stroud chute mounted, will remove to paint!

Whats painted sofar, everything turned out perfect, and the engine bay looks a little dark in the pics!
