This is even more inspiring!!!
I also like your quote in another thread earlier...

Yeah these engines are beyond badass, our car just kept making power, on saturday it dyno'd 689awhp and 553awtq at 37psi. I also believe that what killed the engine is too much tq which if we could decrease it making 700+whp while still being reliable is something that can be do able with the stock motor. Oh well only time will tell.
|
I'm in agreement with your statement, the torque your making is putting these rods and piston pins and pistons thru hell. So by keeping the torque lower and moving the power band up in the rpm range you might be able to make the components live a little longer.
Anyway you guys got it figured out keep up the good work!!!

I still think about making my car like yours (a purpose built race car). I just promissed myself, I'd never to go down that road again and prefer a street car. I'd be curious what your car would do on a "stock block". Why do you make 800 awhp, but only run high 9s? I'm not putting you down, but i'm curious how some of these high horse power cars tend to run simular numbers as lower horse power cars.

I don't want to clog up this thread with my car. But it is a different world racing a large frame turbo / light weight car compared to a smaller framed turbo / street car.
When things are not setup right you find out really quickly. My only clean passes this year were all in the 9s and each getting faster when more power was added. There is still a lot that needs adjusted.
If you have any questions about the car I have a build thread on talk, I'll kindly answer anything on there. I just don't want to clog the this thread up.

Have you ever tried making a 8 second pass in a 800+hp car? It is pretty difficult.
Everything has to be spot on and the car just has to work.

Not trying to get into a hissy fit but did you guys hit something? If you compare the front of the car that was raced to the one in the teardown the whole front bumper is different there is also no BC stickers on the fenders or sticker on the front bumper. Just wondering great numbers I cant wait to see everyone at the shootout.

REALLY? you guys are to much . Look closely at the video of the teardown and you might see the glue from the sticker still on the bumper. We took them off because the car is going to the body shop to get painted and getting a new decal job done for the 2012 season.
what's next a blood sample?

Maybe I should pull my stock block off the engine stand out of retirement? Nah.

Agreed. Seems like alot of people are doing everything they can to discredit this record, just anything at all to make it not count. I don't know if it's out of fear or what, bt it's starting to get old real fast . I mean is anyone else even close to this record except Mike? Seems like alot of guys doing alot of talking who have yet to accomplish anything, or even run their cars . I'd just leave the talk and whatnot for race season when people are actually starting to accomplish stuff instead of now looking for any reason to discredit the competition cause you may not be able to get it done.

No, but I did do a 10.50's @ 147 once, with a 2.1 60ft. The car fell on it's face out the hole. T-67 w/ 100 shot. It broke on the next pass, so never back it up and parted the car out soon after. I still count the 11.20 @ 136 w/ a 1.9 60 ft, as my fastest pass at the track. On that pass it spun hard with the stock all season tires. My current setup is pretty slow, but feels kind of strong for a street car.

So as you can see from your experience that even if you have enough HP getting it down the track full tilt can be pretty difficult.

Silly guy, let's not try to guess about what kind of power my car made. As the Owner, Driver, and tuner of my car at the time. I'll tell you, it didn't even make close to 700awhp.

I love how it even bogged on that pass. There had to be 3-5tenths lost right there.
Do you have aem ems on the car still? No problems with the 1g knock sensor?

Congrats on the time. That is really squeezing a lot out of a stock bottom end. I was also trying to beat Riz to the single digit time but fell short with a 10.09 @ 139. Major difference was I was on stock head bolts and gasket, stock valves and valve springs as well. Oh and pump gas with methanol injection.

Ahhhhh, that stock block record is for the birds. After seeing the aftermath, of the current record holder. It doesn't seem woth the effort. My car is currently having Eagle rods and Aries pistons installed with arp main studs. We'll see how my car likes 43-44 psi this spring. Do you still have tour car? If so what plans do you have for your beast?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on the matter, I guess . I sought out to try to beat this record and had to do so by trying new things and being bold. I think it's well worth the trouble to find out just how much our 4g63 block can take in stock form. The car is getting a few changes done and a fresh stock block as we speak, so It should be done in the next few weeks. The plan is to run the stock block until May and then slap on the a built block to try to hit 8s before the shootout.

We lost rod number 3 but here is the video of me taking it apart to set the record straight. I must say that we beat the piss out of that block

So you're driving it all the way to the shootout, correct? I'm meeting up with several people from Florida before heading north to the shootout this year - I'd love to see your car on the way up there. Hell, maybe even grab a bite at some cheap interstate restaurant and talk about scattering bottom ends.
Any details on the built block you're going to be dropping in for this years shootout, or is this a hush-hush operation?

Hell that's not a bad idea Sure thing brother just shoot me a PM a few days before.
NO hush hush here. We build motors that we can sell to customers so HUSH HUSH would defeat my purpose. We are still debating between a 2.0L std or a 2.0L long rod setup. Compression is still up on the air and rods will be GRP with L19 rod bolt upgrade.
